As a baker, who really is your ideal client? (Credit to techyybaker)
In other to attract a large buying crowd, you need to carve a niche for you yourself!
First you have to know EVERYONE IS NOT YOUR TARGET CUSTOMER! When we first get into business we think our ideal client/target audience is everyone, after all everyone loves cakes and everyone has a birthday at least ones a year.
AS YOUR BUSINESS GROWS, BE KNOWN FOR A CERTAIN BAKED PRODUCT
You define your target audience by niching down to one or two baked products, From example: You can decide to specialize in making wedding cakes, kiddies cakes, Cake slice, parfaits, small chops or bread. This does not mean you can not take orders outside your niche, it simply means that you are well know for certain product.
Check out the following page to better understand what I mean NikzTouch Cakes & Confectioneries is known for ready to fry Samosa & Spring roll
Chioma Ijeoma Michael is known for wedding cakes
Bethel Cakes Et Al is known for her whipped cream cakes
Ambhiz Confectionery is known for her signature banana bread
How do you know what product to specialize in?
1: what product do your customers commend you on most?
2: What product do your customers request for the most?
3: What product can you make with your eyes closed and it will still taste as good?
NOW PICK UP YOUR PEN AND PAPER, MAKE A LIST OF ALL THE PRODUCT YOU SELL. THEN THINK ABOUT THE ONE YOU CAN TURN TO YOUR SPECIALITY.
When you do this you can naturally attract clients who can relate with your chosen path.
Thank you
