My goal is simple!

I want Cravings by Bjays-ZEST & ZING to become the first name that comes to mind whenever anyone asks for an Ekpang plug in Calabar.

That’s why I’m constantly learning, improving, and even learning from experienced Efik women to preserve the authentic taste of our local delicacies.

I don’t just want to sell food. I want to create a home for the rich Efik meals many of us grew up enjoying but rarely find these days.

Ever looked at kidney beans and wondered, “Why exactly are they called kidney beans?” 🤔

Well, the answer is surprisingly simple.

Kidney beans got their name because they look like the human kidney. Their curved shape and appearance reminded people of the organ, so the name stuck and has been used for generations.

Funny enough, many of us have eaten kidney beans countless times without ever thinking about why they’re called that. Some of us may have wondered briefly and moved on without looking it up. 😄

It’s one of those little everyday facts hiding in plain sight. Sometimes the things we see all the time have interesting stories behind their names.

But honestly, have you considered the process behind a good plate of Ekpang Nkukwu?

From peeling and grating the water yam and cocoyam, to wrapping each one individually, preparing and adding enough crayfish, protein, and other delicious ingredients… Ekpang is not an easy meal to make! 😮‍💨👏🏽

Do you realize how things are expensive in the market?

The ingredients alone are expensive, and if you decide to cook it yourself, you will understand that you cannot prepare a rich, loaded Ekpang with all these ingredients for just ₦4,000 and ₦8,000

This is a special delicacy that many families prepare only once in a while because of how tedious and time-consuming it is. So yes, good Ekpang is worth the price! 💯
