Kukup is often described as “one of the last of its kind”—a rare fishing village built on wooden stilts over the sea. To truly understand its charm, one must cross the waters and walk along floating fish farm planks, feeling the cool sea breeze and breathing in

the salty air. This humble coastal village is well known for its open-air seafood restaurants built on stilts above the water, a favourite among visitors from Singapore. Once sustained by fishing, Kukup has gradually transformed, with tourism becoming the heart of the community. A walk through the village and conversations with chalet owners offer a rare glimpse into a way of life that is quietly adapting to change. From June to August, Kukup also becomes part of the “Durian - King of Fruits” trail, where guests can enjoy seasonal delights such as Thorny King durian and the Purple Queen mangosteen. After more than 4 years of bringing guests to this ever-changing village, our journey is no longer measured in distance travelled, but in friendships formed. Every trip adds new stories, new connections, and deeper appreciation for this special place.
