Perched high above the vibrant city skyline, Dewakan offers an experience where the magnificent view is just the first course. The restaurant’s name itself—a portmanteau of the Malay words dewa (god) and makan (to eat)—promises a divine culinary encounter. And it delivers, not with mythical ingredients, but by profoundly honouring the bounty of Malaysia’s own lands.

At the helm is Chef Darren Teoh, a culinary artist who treats each plate as a canvas. He masterfully combines and connects indigenous ingredients sourced from the nation’s farms, jungles, mountains, and seas. This is more than a menu; it is a tribute to the local farmers, fishers, and artisans whose passion is the foundation of every dish.

Indulgence Afternoon Tea at Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel is truly an indulgent experience. Sitting in the spacious lobby where natural sunlight and air flows in vertically from the roof and horizontally from the green oasis.
The afternoon tea set features sweet and savory delicacies. Starting off with an elegant glass of lemon sorbet, I literally fall into the timeless experience of this afternoon tea.
The scones and pistachio praline brioche feuilleté are beautiful joy to my palate; the truffle chocolate balls pair perfectly with my cup of coffee.
Savoury little bites such as Devonshire clotted cream makes way for foie gras paté with mango flower on brioche and smoked mackerel rillette in tomato tartelette with pickled vegetables are simply irresistible.
Sweet tooths will delight on pistachio, apple compote in honey infused yoghurt and white chocolate mousse, and yuzu curd with pate sucrée and Italian meringue.
Indulgence Afternoon Tea is available every day from March until May from 14:00 to 17:00 in the Lobby Lounge:

THB 1,900++ per set (serves up to two persons), including a coffee and tea selection.

Indulgence Afternoon Tea - See it in motion
Personally, I like the ambience of the lobby. ‘Flow’ is the concept of the design, allowing air and natural sunlight to flow vertically. The corridor leading on each floor is not air conditioned, allowing natural air and sunlight penetrating each floor. The design supports an environmentally friendly space.
This afternoon tea set features some enticing bites. It looks simple but is so satisfying to my sweet tooth.
I have been here two days in a row for the afternoon tea. I could imagine how crowded it will be when Thailand resumes to its international tourism business later this year!

《Taste of Ayutthaya》River prawns from Ayutthaya are the best prawns from Thailand. Its juiciness and insanely creamy prawn essence oozing on the prawn head. Right! All these beautiful grilled prawns are freshly out from the charcoal stove, served hot to order! Atrium of Landmark Bangkok literally brings Ayutthaya right at the buffet line! It’s a feast of the best river prawns in town!
After the prawns, here comes the crabs! Look at the egg of the 🦀 crabs. Can’t you resist? Not me!
Sunday brunch with a feast of beautiful seafood is always a cure to depression and a reward for a week of hard work! It can also be a fabulous family activity on a Sunday.
Other food such as boat noodles, carving of juicy steak, delicious Thai dishes, irresistible desserts, etc are simply too luring to miss!
The Sunday brunch is 3000 baht per head but there is credit card promotion for Come 2 Pay 1, equivalent to 50% discount, applicable to a group of maximum 12 persons. Call to book your table to celebrate any Sunday at Atrium with your friends and loved ones!

G’s Spot at Gaggan Anand - From Soi Langsuan to Sukhumvit Soi 31, the emoji menu remains but in a different way. Instead of giving us an emoji menu, we received a blank piece of paper and emoji stickers. Based on what we eat and our experience of each course, we then chose the emoji and create our own version of an emoji menu.
Some bites in this dining experience are familiar. They are the signature dishes or those that have received compliments from diners over the past years. These include the explosion 💥 and lick it up.
Sitting at the G’s Spot, I presumed that I would get foodgasm there. I believe that’s why it is called G’s Spot. The dining experience was expectable - flavour of each course was spot on; plating was eye-catching and appealing. It’s also a fun dining experience. The fourth through eighth course were served on a weird shape of plate. In fact, they are plate jigsaws 🧩 which would become the continent of India.
Sitting at the G’s Spot allows me to learn about how to up-sell. Premium ingredients are introduced and shown to each diner one by one. Someone will come and ask if you would like to add the ingredients at extra cost. Now, that’s where the human behavioral psychology kicks in. When a consecutive of five diners say ‘yes’ to add all extra ingredients (meaning they are willing to pay extra also), what would the rest of three diners do. I was enjoying to see how diners respond.
However, these premium ingredients such as white truffle and prawn are really irresistible!
Anyway, it was a fun dining! I did interact with the chefs and the strangers sitting on my left. Mingling with other foodies over food was always a pleasure!

The ‘APPRECIATION’ Tasting Menu allows diners to explore taste and emotions, not by written word or story format but by visual imageries juxtaposed to Chef Jutamas “Som” Theantae’s menu creations.

The APPRECIATION Tasting Menu was served without a menu provided on the dining table. The anticipation of the next dish becomes an excitement. After all, it is how you feel about the food more important than words on a piece of paper.
The dining experience brings you through Chef Som’s Chinese roots and her life experience in India and Thailand. Some dishes reminds me of my own Chinese roots (The pork soup); my personal experience about street food in Chinatown (Yaowarat) and my experience of the intense spiciness of Indian food!
I especially like the course of Noodle. The curry sauce was created from scratch by Chef Som using more than 50 different kinds of Indian and Chinese spices. The flavour is unique! It’s hot and spicy but also unforgettable as the taste is totally unconventional.
Some courses are familiar courses that we may easily find on the street in Thailand, but Chef Som transforms them into her version, adding her identity and interpretation of food creation. For example, Thai Hoitod (oyster crispy pancake). Chef Som’s version separates the oyster from the crispy pancake without any oily mouth feel.

《Adventures》The more I age, the more eager I am to try new things. Something that is not routine; something that is not stereotyped; something that is totally out of my comfort zone. I have severe hydrophobic and consciously know I do not like water, but I go scuba diving. Allow myself to be cocooned by water deep in the sea. When I hike, I choose the roughest route to test how resilient I can be. I like reading, but I choose to read a book from a genre I hate every other month. By doing these, I feel myself younger and bolder.
When comes to food, trying new restaurants is also my pastime. Of course, I sometimes encounter sh*tty experiences - 100-year-old-turtle-crawling-speed of service; untrained waiters who cannot explain the menu; disappointing flavour and quality of food; my waving hand for service is ignored, etc.
This one - Côte by Mauro Colagreco is one of the new restaurants I went to recently. It serves gourmand cuisine conceptualized by Three-Michelin Star Chef Mauro Colagreco. Elegantly decorated with the breathtaking view of bustling River Chaopraya, Côte was where I chose for an Anniversary celebration. The dinner I had was a 9-course menu with the wine pairing. Each course came quite quickly one after another, so did the wine. At some point, I intentionally slowed down myself a bit in starting the course to avoid myself getting into a food coma too soon. We especially love the signature bread with Chef Mauro’s special lemon-infused olive oil; the love-at-first-bite of shiitake macaroon, which is layered with a mildly sweet-sour apple; the melt-in-the-mouth pigeon; and the irresistibly aromatic shiitake dessert.
The wine pairing was impressive. White wines with distinctive aroma, taste and aftertaste were selected for all the courses before the main. One thing I felt a bit awkward was when I was presented a wine list to select a couple of minutes after I placed my order for the menu and the wine pairing.
It is definitely where we will return for more deliciousness and indulgence. Yea, to enjoy the best dining experience. Sometimes I play safe! Too adventurous may be disappointing.

Two Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Dunand collaborated with Chef Christian Martena for the first four hands dinner series at Clara Bangkok.

Back in 2014, I first tasted Chef Christian Martena's Italian cuisine in Narathiwas, Sathorn area (https://bit.ly/3m18kh7). His restaurant was the only reason I would ever go to that area. Chef Arnaud's cuisine is always my top choice for birthday and anniversary celebration (https://bit.ly/374gTU0). This collaboration was such a rare valuable chance for me savour the dishes made by two favourite chefs of mine.

The 9 moments menu served at this Four Hands Dinner features some of interesting flavours and bites. I am intrigued by the tomato trilogy - tomatoes were presented in three different forms with different textures. Tomato has never tasted so unordinary. The red mullet, a dish from Chef Arnaud’s tasting menu at Le Normandie, impressed me with the juiciest red mullet perfectly coated in the black liquorice. It's one of my favourite dishes in this menu.

I was totally indulged in the risotto with saffron and veal sweetbreads and hazelnut. The magic of hazelnut gave a nutty flavour to the risotto. I definitely fell in love at first bite with the pigeon with coffee and pear - imagine slices of pigeon melt in the mouth, with a coffee-flavoured sauce that complemented the perfectly cooked pigeon at its lovely tenderness!

Finally, the refreshing dessert - Tarta All’uva engraved ‘Chef Arnaud and Chef Christian’ deeply onto the mind map of my food geography in Bangkok!

I am already looking forward to another Four Hands wine dinner at Clara Bangkok.
Excellent!

Capella Bangkok, the refined boutique retreat on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, sets the stage for spectacular celebrations this December. At the Capella Bangkok's Festive Celebration Exclusive Preview, we have experienced the lavish festive vibes and extensive luxurious epicurean experiences for Christmas and the New Year.

Every dining outlet at Capella Bangkok is geared to serve guests a dazzling celebration of the festive season. At the exclusive preview, we were especially impressed with the high-quality festive cuisine prepared at Côte, a high-end restaurant conceptualized by Three-Michelin star chef Mauro Colagreco and positioned to serve colourful and generous gourmand cuisine.

At Stella, guests will enjoy beautiful free-flow cocktails and canapés, as well as Champagne when counting down to the new year. Have your camera ready to take photos with their signature white peacock!

Guests can choose to either celebrate the New Year Eve in a private villa or premium suite on the outdoor terrace or enjoy a feast of the lavish feast with shared courses and live stations at Phra Nakhorn. Either option gives guests a spectacular view of the fireworks! The moment we saw the villa at the Preview, my desire to reserve one to celebrate the New Year just gets higher!

The festive desserts found at Phra Nakhon are simply irresistible. For someone like us who do not like sweets and desserts, we savoured the best bites of festive cakes in town. Don't forget to grab yourself a glass of the festive drinks, it will definitely bring you to joyful vibes.

《A conversation with the Devil》My husband's birthday was approaching, I was deciding where to celebrate his birthday. In the exciting gourmet world of Bangkok, new restaurants pop up all the time.
I was thinking passionately, 'Maybe I should take him to this new restaurant.'
The Devil on the other side of my mind argued, 'How would you know it is not another disappointment? You did have bad experiences with new restaurants, right?'
I instantly responded, 'It may be different this time. How would I know if I don't try it!'
The Devil sighed, 'Is it your adventurous experience more important than the celebration of your husband's birthday?'
I thought, 'Dear Devil, you win!'

Immediately, I browsed through my own Bangkok's dining bibliography and picked the top restaurant on my list - Le Normandie.

Le Normandie is simply irreplaceable. Whenever there is a special day to celebrate, I like to choose Le Normandie. The magnificent view of Chaopraya River; the pitch-perfect professional service with big smiles; and the consistency of the flavours and food quality; the little good-bye delicacy on your way out of the restaurant, all these contribute to the good memory of Le Normandie. Such memory lingers for a long time.

The surprise of this weekend lunch came when three handsome servers brought out a birthday cake and sang the birthday song while approaching our table. It was warm and touching. The cake was huge for two, they packed the cake nicely for us to take home and continue the celebration. How thoughtful!

The weekend lunch features fresh harvests and high-quality produces from land to sea. The flavour is well-balanced, none of the complementing seasoning or sauces overpowers the original juices of the main ingredients. Personally, I really like the octopus - it's cooked to its perfect texture. The fish course is a delight to the eyes. Coated in black, the toothsome white fish reveals when cutting through it. The souffle is the best in town! It's another unforgettable dining experience at Le Normandie.

On the way home, I delightedly thought, 'Good that I listened to the Devil on the other side of my mind!'
