Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is a café concept and coffee roaster established in Singapore in 2013, with the aim of championing specialty coffee throughout the region. CMCR is a part of Spa Esprit Group, a homegrown brand with a diverse portfolio spanning across beauty and F&B, including STRIP waxing, Browhaus, Drunken Farmer, Open Farm Community and many more. This month, we are excited to showcase a remarkable lot from South Sulawesi that highlights the incredible diversity of Indonesian coffee.

Grown at 1,250 meters in the volcanic highlands of Gowa, this lot marks a turning point in regional terroir, spearheaded by third-generation producer Yolan Tirta. By pairing organically cultivated heirloom Typica and S795 varieties with controlled greenhouse drying, Yolan actively counters the extreme tropical humidity that historically dictated the region's style.

The result is a total departure from convention: a cup defined by a lively, vibrant acidity paired with a lush, velvety body, serving as a powerful proof of concept for modern origin processing. This isn't just a remarkable Indonesian coffee, it is a glimpse into the future of climate-resilient, quality-forward smallholder farming in Southeast Asia.
