January 1, 2026 CLOSED.
Back in my school days, one of the few TV shows I watched was Singapore’s English sitcom "Under One Roof". It told stories about the daily ups and downs of the Tan Ah Teck family living in a public housing estate. At the end of each episode, the father, Tan Ah Teck (played by Moses Lim), would ask his family: “So, what’s the moral of the story today?” Then he’d share a little reflection — bittersweet, funny, and real.
Soon, the lights at our café on Kluang Mural Street will dim, and a new cozy little shop will light up the neighborhood — this time, in a nearby housing area.
Choosing the new location wasn’t much of a struggle; we simply imagined where the spirit of Kaki Lima would feel most at home. When word got out, most people reacted the same way they did when we first opened in Mural Street — “That doesn’t seem like the right place for a café.”
But if we only ever opened in places that seemed right, Kafé Kaki Lima might never have existed.
As we prepare to leave Mural Street and open in a lively housing area — a place full of daily joys, sorrows, and laughter, just like the Tan Ah Teck family — our anticipation overflowing😌🤔😆.
Bye 2025, see you again in 2026.
