The beginning of the new year which starts when the sun, as a disk, starts to cross the astrological boundary between 'House of Pisces' and 'House of Aries' and ends when the crossing is complete.
During this halfway point also considered as the dawn of the new year, we begin to celebrate the end of the harvest season and spring. One of the two instances when the sun is directly above Sri Lanka.
In the celestial sphere; we observe our beliefs, perhaps those associated with the fertility of the harvest, give birth to many rituals, customs, and ceremonies connected with the New Year.
Modern-day activities related to the celebration of the traditional New Year are based on auspicious times given by the astrologers but one thing is for sure we never forget our cultural roots and that includes our traditional Sri Lankan sweets!
We wish every Sri Lankan at home and abroad a very happy and prosperous Sinhala and Tamil new year! Most of all we wish our customers the very best always!
