Sakaporuwa is a machine for making pottery. It is operated with the help of a leg. A well-tempered lump of clay is placed on it and the pottery is shaped into various shapes using a potter. We call those who make pottery as potters. So, these potters did not start making this type of pottery recently. This is a profession with a very long history. This process, which started especially with the Egyptian civilization, gradually evolved in Sri Lanka based on various needs.
