Recently we crossed the borders all the way to Republic of Somaliland. We studied 26 sites in 5 localitites. Somaliland is situated in semi arid areas with a precipitation of about 250mm/annum and temperature generally is as high as 34 degrees Celsius. Potential aquifers are very deep. Areas of our studies met aquifers as deep as 500m bgl. Water quality is another challenge. Our experience retains that a very versatile groundwater detector, of a higher capacity to pe*****te deeper aquifers and ofcourse able hydrogeologist with vast experience especially in such geological settings is an advantage.
