Since the earliest days of IIT, Chedis has stood as more than just a shop — it is a legacy built on resilience. Through changing times, countless challenges, and many hardships, it has remained rooted in the same place, holding on with quiet strength.
When IIT invites its alumni back on Alumni Day, memories guide them home. And almost without thought, their first stop is Chedis — where time slows down, tea carries the taste of the past, and old friendships find their voice again.
Decades have passed, yet Chedis still stands — the one and only place from their time that survived every storm. Alumni from Azad, RP, RK, Patel, and LLR Halls sit together, remembering not just their college days, but a piece of life that never left them.
From the heart of Chedis, we offer our deepest gratitude — for remembering our legacy, for standing with us through time, and for proving that true bonds do not fade, they endure.

RP hall 1980 batch. In this photo, the young man in the center is the grandson of Chedi’s, also known as Chedis 1961 or Anwar Khan. The individuals on the side are alumni from IIT Kharagpur, RP Hall, from the 1980s batch. They share a mix of joy and sorrow, as Chedi’s tea shop no longer stays open 24/7. Back in their college days, they spent countless joyful moments there, but now, due to various challenges, the shop is struggling. The alumni wish for Chedi’s to continue supporting students as it always has, because it’s more than just a tea shop—it’s an emotion.

In the end, they bid farewell and express their gratitude to Chedi’s for keeping those memories alive.
