Brace yourselves… because SUMMER is not just knocking — it’s storming in with heatwaves, sticky clothes, and sweaty foreheads!
But wait… what if I told you that our humble summer hero — Ice Apple (Taati Munjalu) — just got a spicy, creamy makeover?
Yes, yes, yes! No more eating it plain and boring. We’re taking this chilled beauty straight into our kitchen… and turning up the heat — in a GOOD way!
Presenting…
Ice Apple Gravy Curry – Simi’s Summer Special
(Vegan | Cooling | Rich | Unique)
Ingredients
🥥 1 cup thick coconut milk
🌰 2 tbsp groundnuts (roasted)
🌿 1 tbsp sesame seeds (roasted)
✨ 1 tsp cumin seeds
🧅 1 chopped onion
🌶️ 2 green chillies
🧄 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
🍅 1 chopped tomato
🧂 Salt to taste
🟡 ½ tsp turmeric
🌶️ 1 tsp red chilli powder
🧈 1 tbsp cold-pressed oil
🌴 4-5 fresh ice apples (peeled and chopped into chunks)
🌱 Curry leaves, coriander for garnish
Let’s Get Cooking
1. Dry Roast the groundnuts and sesame seeds. Once cooled, grind them to a fine paste with a splash of water.
2. In a kadai, heat oil. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
3. Toss in onions, green chillies, and curry leaves. Sauté till golden.
4. Add ginger-garlic paste. Cook until raw smell disappears.
5. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt. Cook till mushy.
6. Add the ground nut-sesame paste and mix well. Let it simmer for 2–3 mins.
7. Pour in the coconut milk. Stir gently and bring to a mild boil.
8. Now the star moment — Add the ice apple chunks. Simmer for just 3–4 minutes.
9. Turn off the flame. Garnish with fresh coriander. Let it rest a bit before serving.

How to Serve?
Serve hot with steamed rice or millets. Trust me — the sweetness of ice apple with the creamy coconut, earthy sesame, and nutty gravy will make your taste buds swoon in the heat!
