Creamy chicken curry...home cook’s basic North recipe with reminiscence of karahi chicken and no major challenges except the patience required in ensuring that the onions are cooked for very long time and not just till they are browning.

Visit to TRISHNA today nestled in a quiet street off Marylebone High Street and it exceeded expectations with its simplicity and classy decor. The food is excellent with its Bombay, Goan and some more of the eastern Indian Konkan coast flavours. Staff are a bit slow and not very clear with explaining dishes so use your best judgement if you are a non-Indian.

We tried the spring 4 course menu and it's a treat. Quick rating/review on some of the dishes below:

Starters:
- Telucherry Squid & Shrimps (7)
- Shahi Salmon Tikka (8)
- Duck Chutney Seekh (10)
Mains
- Kozhikode Chicken Masala (5)
- Gongura Lamb (9)
Dessert:
- Orange Malpua Rabri (only north Indian) (8)

Food is better than a lot of the competitors but it is slightly overpriced in my opinion.

Enjoy and let us know if you go and what your thoughts were.

Recent visit to DISHOOM and our second time since it first opened...we didn't return because we found it overrated the first time. My view hasn't changed much but perhaps having just returned from India means the benchmark is set really high. Our order was murgh malai, lamb boti kebab, chicken biryani and kaali (black) daal. I won't rate each dish but my top one was murgh malai which is not much when compared to Delhi's Rajinder Da Dhaba's (my previous post below on this page) murgh malai tikka but it is decent. The pistachio kulfi was a disaster and tasted like a lump of lard on a stick with no traces (let alone taste) of pistachio whatsoever.

Service is generally good but we weren't offered the chutney trio till much later when we asked for it (hence not rating it excellent).

We were at Dishoom Carnaby Street and the set up and interior along with the seating in the conservatory gets top top marks, it paints an amazing classic Bombay Parsi cafe picture.

Next reviews coming up (not in that order):
1. Darjeeling express
2. Bombay Bustle
