Final few days of coffee harvest and got to witness how coffee is just not a plant but livelihood of many. Coffee is so much more than just a drink-it’s a journey, a story, and a shared passion that connects us all. Every sip of coffee tells the story of the hard work of coffee farmers.
The journey from humble coffee beans on the forest land to the aromatic cup on your table is a miraculous process involving nature and human craftsmanship. From the coffee farmers who work tirelessly to make sure their crops remain healthy enough to go to market to the workers who harvest the ripe cherries by hand, every step of the process involves the hands and hearts of many individuals.
Before reaching your cup, our coffee cherries must be processed to extract the beans. Some are pulped, fermented, and washed to remove the mucilage, leaving the beans to dry while the other cherries are spread out in the sun to dry, and the beans are later hulled from the dried fruit. No single coffee processing method is better than another, it all comes down to the preference of the farmer, and to your personal flavour preferences of course! Regardless of the process, each bean is dried on large raised beds or patios for weeks at a time, and needs to be carefully monitored, turned over at regular intervals to ensure even drying. The end result is a cup of coffee that stands out from the rest.
At Hygge India, ethically and sustainably sourced coffee is more than a phrase, it’s our mission.
