I never enjoy writing posts, but this is by far the hardest one I have ever had to!
With a completely broken heart, we say goodbye to my dad, Liam - my absolute hero. š I was, and always will be, a 100% Daddyās girl.
Dad was a humble, proud, and deeply respected man, both within his family and throughout his community. He loved his family, his football, and his gardening - not always in that order! He taught us that material things donāt matter; people do. He showed us the importance of loyalty, kindness, and always being there for those around you.
He was kind, well-read and incredibly intelligent. He absolutely adored his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always there for his four younger brothers. He loved knowing what was going on in everyoneās life and what was happening in the community. He was a proud president of his local St. Brigidās GAA club and he was the biggest Meath GAA fan. šš
Dad was often the one who came up with titles for my paintings. He was always throwing out ideas on what I could do next.
Much of my inspiration comes from him. š¢
Dad battled illness with great strength for the past 4Ā½ years, and we feel so privileged to have had those extra years to care for him at home during that time. So many times we were told this is it but you werenāt ready and always fought back so bravely. This time you were ready but we just werenāt š¢š
A special and heartfelt thank you to my niece Davina, who was always there for him and to all of his wonderful carers over the past few years. Your compassion, dedication, and kindness meant so much to him. He adored every one of you, and we will miss seeing you come through the door each day. Thank you for everything you did for him ā you know who you are. š
Daddy, you can finally rest in peace. I can hear you saying look after mammy as you did so well for almost 55 years of marriage. Donāt worry we will care for her just like she cared for you! Shes a strong one. The next couple of days will be tough saying goodbye but we will carry you in our hearts forever and cherish the lessons, love, and memories you gave us.
