- A 100th Birthday Celebration Back in 1992 🎉🥂

This week's trip down memory lane takes us back to 1992 and one very special celebration held here in Carty's Bar – Delia Cunnane's 100th birthday 🎂🎈While Delia herself isn't in this collection of photographs, we're sure someone out there has? 📸🖼️

Not only was there a great celebration in Carty's that night, but there was also a very special Mass to mark her remarkable milestone ⛪️ For the occasion, the chair that Pope John Paul II sat on during his visit to Knock in 1979 was brought from Knock Museum so Delia could sit on it during the Mass 🪑 She also received a congratulatory letter from President Mary Robinson—a wonderful memento of such a special occasion 📜🖋

Celebrations like this were regularly held in our Lounge, and when the crowds were as big as this one, they spilled right into the very back lounge, which at the time featured a stage where music and dancing carried on well into the night 💃🕺🎶

Do you remember celebrations like this? Nights in the Lounge, where the craic was mighty and the drinks were plenty! 🍻🍷🥃

Fast forward to today, and while the stage is gone, this part of Carty's Bar is still at the heart of so many celebrations, plenty of craic and the odd clink of glasses 🥂❤️

The area now features a cosy snug, a pool table 🎱 and two lit dart boards 🎯, and almost every weekend it's buzzing with birthday parties 🎉, family gatherings 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, sports teams and club events 🏆, staff parties and retirements 🎊, food spreads 🍽️, live bands and DJs 🎤🎸, big sporting occasions on the screens 📺, or simply friends enjoying a great night together 🍻

🍻 One Year On… And What A Year It Has Been 🍻

This time last year, we reopened the doors of Carty's Bar and began a new chapter in a story that stretches back generations ❤️

After five years, the lights came back on, the pints started flowing, and once again Carty's became a place where people could meet, laugh, celebrate and share life's moments together 🍺✨

This past year has given us so much to be grateful for 🙏

✨ Seeing familiar faces return through the doors. 🎶 Bringing live music back. 🏆 Welcoming local clubs and organisations celebrating victories, milestones and everything in between. 🌍 Meeting visitors from near and far, and locals returning to see Carty's thriving once again.

Most of all, seeing the community embrace the pub again has meant everything to us ❤️

It hasn't all been easy. There have been long days, tough decisions and unexpected challenges. We've shared in life's greatest joys, welcoming new additions to families and raising glasses to new beginnings 👶🥂💍

We've also stood alongside friends and neighbours through heartbreaking losses, gathering together when words weren't enough and community mattered most ❤️💔

Throughout it all, we've tried to honour the legacy of Michael and Mary Carty, whose hard work, dedication and love for this place helped make it what it is today. We often wish they could see the bar full once again, hear the music, and witness the community they helped build continuing to thrive 🕊️

To everyone who called in for a drink 🍻, came to an event or music night 🎵, celebrated with us 🎉, supported an event 🤝, recommended us to a friend ❤️, or simply wished us well 🙏 — thank you.

You didn't just support a business. You helped bring a piece of Knock's heart back to life ❤️

As we look ahead, we're excited for: 🎶 More music. 🤝 More community events. 🍻 More reasons to gather. 📖 More stories shared across the bar. ❤️ More memories made within these walls.

One year down... and it feels like we're only getting started ✨
