The History Weekend returns to Ashford Castle from 13th to 15th November 2026, with a programme inspired by America 250 📜

As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding, this year's programme explores pivotal moments and figures that have shaped both American and Irish history, from the American Revolution and the Kennedy legacy to modern Irish emigration, Vietnam's lasting impact on American politics and the golden age of investigative journalism.

We are delighted to welcome back Dr Myles Dungan, Flor MacCarthy, Turtle Bunbury and Professor Diarmaid Ferriter, while also welcoming Robbyn Swan to this year's exceptional line up of speakers.

Set against the backdrop of a luxurious two night Castle stay, guests will enjoy an engaging weekend of thought provoking discussion and discovery, culminating in a hosted fine dining dinner with the speakers in the magnificent surroundings of The Connaught Room.
