😂 MEET THE TEAM BEHIND THE SCENES! 😂☕You see the faces in the café, the coffee being poured, the chats being had and the lovely volunteers keeping everything ticking along…but what you DON’T see is the amount of work, planning, organising, painting, printing, emailing, sourcing, meetings, phone calls and general “sure we’ll figure it out!” that happens behind the scenes! 😂So we thought it was time to introduce the people who help make our little Community Café happen…
☕ ANNette Annette is a bit of a double agent really… 😂 You’ll see her in the café volunteering all THREE days that we’re open, but she is also hugely involved behind the scenes. We are incredibly fortunate that Annette very kindly agreed to manage the café while also getting stuck into all the behind-the-scenes work. Annette is so hands on in the daily running of the cafe and has a fantastic personality which all the customers and volunteers love, Annette has actually been involved since before there even was a café! 😂As she describes it herself, she was “dragged up to Ballingarry Café to meet the lads up there when we were THINKING about the idea… and the rest was history.” 😊 And look where that little trip got us! ❤️☕
NICOLA ….You’ll usually see Nicola helping out in the café on a Friday, but there’s plenty more going on behind the scenes!Nicola is very involved in all the planning and meetings and has a habit of arriving absolutely bursting with enthusiasm! 😂 She is also always willing to roll up her sleeves and get stuck into whatever needs doing. Basically, if there’s a job going… don’t make eye contact with Nicola or you might get volunteered! 😂☕
AMANDA Every team needs a whizz kid and ours is Amanda! 🙌 Amanda is the woman behind our menu layout, all the printing, the formal forms, the emails and a whole mountain of other jobs that most people never see but that absolutely HAVE to be done. If it involves a printer, a form, an email or making something look like we actually know what we’re doing… Amanda has probably done it! 😂 We honestly would be lost without her. ❤️☕
DAVID ……We could put up the nickname we actually call David…but he’d probably sulk, so we won’t! 😂David got involved when, according to us, all the hard work was done! 😂😂He breezed in shortly before we officially opened and, unfortunately for him, we haven’t managed to get rid of him since! 😂Joking aside, David has been a fantastic asset to the behind-the-scenes team. He brings a very logical approach to everything and keeps us grounded when the rest of us are coming up with our next “brilliant idea”. And, I suppose, we do have to occasionally allow a male point of view into our decision-making! 😂☕ PAMELA ….Pamela was the instigator of all this and somehow managed to drag the rest of us into her mad idea! She threw us all in at the deep end…and thankfully, we swam! 😂😊 Pamela and Annette burned plenty of midnight heating oil in the Tirry Centre painting tables and chairs and probably burned through a fair bit of car engine oil too, driving from one end of the country to the other sourcing old dressers, furniture and Delph for the café! 😂Pamela also has a particular talent for asking people to “give a hand”… and before you know it, that person is completely invested, involved and wondering how they ended up with another job! 😂😂 But that’s because Pamela has such a passion for everything she does. She genuinely believed that a Community Café was something Fethard needed — and it turns out she was absolutely right. ❤️❤️ AND THEN THERE’S THE REST OF THE STORY…Sometimes it’s hard to see just how much work, time and commitment goes on behind the scenes to make the café operate smoothly. There are meetings nobody sees, jobs nobody knows about, forms that need filling, emails that need sending, furniture that needs finding, things that need fixing and approximately a million cups of coffee involved in the decision-making process! 😂☕ But this fantastic team work amazingly together and, most importantly, work brilliantly alongside all of our wonderful volunteers. Every single person who gives their time to the café — whether you’re serving, baking, washing cups, cleaning, organising, planning, fixing, printing, emailing or simply turning up with a smile — is part of what makes this place so special. We might have a bit of chaos…We might have a few “sure we’ll figure it out” moments…And we may occasionally wonder what on earth we’ve got ourselves into! 😂 But we are incredibly proud of our little Community Café and so grateful to everyone who has helped make it what it is. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! ❤️☕…and possibly a little bit of madness too! 😂😂
