South William St is almost ready to welcome its newest member. A huge team effort was needed here with and to deliver the new location for on this historic street in Dublin. We worked closely with and their conservation department to reinstate an historic plinth on the elevation that had degraded beyond repair, causing structural instability to the main historic timber structure of the old shopfront. The result is a blend of new and old, a contemporary design statement alongside period restoration work. These things take time!! Look forward to the opening early 2026 and a huge thank you to everyone associated with the project

Hard to know where to begin. 10 years ago I met a bunch of people and had a blast doing some TV for a few years with the amazing for . Whilst I knew of Hugh the architect, I had never really met the man. As it turns out, he was an absolute sweetheart with a silly side that was larger than life. Behind the persona was a hugely funny, caring and generous man. He loved people, and would often stop and talk to people on the street, genuinely interested in having the chats and sharing stories with them, often accompanied by his huge laugh and fountain of local knowledge (wherever we were!). It was lovely to be around, and I’ll remember those little moments, as I think it showed who he really was. He’ll be massively missed by the architectural community, and by lots of people at home who came to know him. Rest in peace Hugh ❤️❤️

P L A N N I N G Approved / This project started back to 2022, marking the start of a 3 year process to finally get approval in May 2025 for a newbuild rural dwelling for a local farmer and his young family. Glenasmole valley in the Dublin mountains is a beautiful, scenic landscape and the local authority are rightly very selective about any form of development in the area. We approached this sensitive site by keeping material choices simple, honest and natural. The form is deliberately long and low, and situated below eye level behind an existing mature treeline to minimise any visual impact from the existing road. There were significant challenges across a wide range of planning criteria, but we believe this is the first newbuild approved in the area since 2011 which is testament to our talented and dedicated design team who stayed the course. A special mention to our clients who were also a huge part of this process. Hill farming is in decline, and our clients family have farmed this land since 1736. This legacy was under serious threat without the real need to provide housing for the people who live and work in the area. A responsive architectural approach was the only way to achieve this and satisfy the needs of the delicate setting, so we are beyond delighted for all involved. .garden

Delighted to get Planning Approval for our housing scheme of 24 units on a linear site near Bray. Our approach split the building in two blocks, to reduce mass and give a more appropriate, human scale to the development.

Texture, materiality and scale are designed to express and mirror Church road’s unique character. The dwellings are grounded by 2 storey masses with deep perceived separating setbacks and tall rooflight shafts. Buff brick with dark anodized aluminium sits amongst the historic granite stone walls and mature protected trees of its surroundings.

This scheme provides a much needed housing scheme that takes advantage of a large vacant site in close proximity to the town centre of Bray. A huge thank you to all involved .garden

Our elevation design for Arkle reflects the strong undulating roofscape of the immediate environs. It pulls apart the traditional A frame of the adjoining roofscapes to provide 4 units within 2 familiar shapes. A ‘front to back’ design approach unlocked the potential of this challenging site to create 4 new homes. Looking rather splendid in the magnificent evening sunset 👌

We’re delighted to be taking part in again this year, welcoming people into the office to discuss all kinds of amazing projects big and small. Think speed dating for architects and clients. 1hr consultations in exchange for a donation. Meeting lots of people and embracing the power of design in every session. No one leaves empty handed (!) so we try to get a coherent sketch proposal somewhat complete within the hour and it’s proving to be a lot of fun along the way. Thank you to all who support this unbelievable cause

Pick up a copy of the this weekend to see more of our Clontarf project (sneak peak above!) and to read about the challenges in adapting existing houses for modern family needs. This particular one was a joy from start to finish. We played with texture and colour throughout, both in the exterior finishes to complement the original pebble dash, and in the internal materials to create spaces that glow with warmth. Big thanks to all involved, and especially to our clients ❤️ Enjoy!

Looking forward to some long awaited blue skies so here is our recently approved scheme for New Ross bathed in glorious sunshine, highlighting the curved scalloped elevation treatment and solid massing extrusions. ODKM recently lodged a planning application for this extension to the Wexford Arts Centre. The aesthetic is of a contemporary nature to complement and respect the historic building and ensure legibility between the old and new. The addition will ensure the continued use of the building long into the future. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a positive decision🤞🤞🤞
