This October, we’re bringing an eighties movie’s worth of questionable fashion and excellent company to Ashton Scouts Hut.

Expect cold b**r, hot bratwurst and moves that really should have stayed on VHS. 🕺

🎺🍺 WHAT’S ALL THE OOMPAH ABOUT?

That unmistakable “oom-pah, oom-pah” gets its name from the music itself: the deep “oom” of the bass instruments followed by the bright “pah” of the band answering back. Simple, catchy and very difficult to keep your feet still to!

With roots in Central European folk and brass-band traditions, it became closely associated with Bavarian b**r halls and Oktoberfest. But it’s travelled further than you might think German bands were entertaining crowds on British streets and at seaside resorts back in the 1800s! 🎶

And on Friday 16 October, The Schunklers are bringing that spirit to Makerfield Oktoberfest! Expect live oompah, plenty of clapping and a good excuse to get your friends together. 🍻
