September reset ✨
There’s something about that first week back at school… the house is finally clean and tidy, there’s no one asking for snacks every five minutes, and suddenly you can hear yourself think again ☺️
This summer was incredible. I made so many beautiful wedding cakes and I’m genuinely so proud of every single one. 🤍
But if I’m being honest, it was also a lot. The constant heatwaves definitely added an extra challenge (to say the least!), and juggling work around the children throughout the summer holidays was harder than I’d anticipated. By last week I was feeling pretty burnt out… and, of course, I promptly got ill the second they went back to school 🤦🏼♀️😂
It’s definitely made me realise that we need a bit more structure for next summer. So my husband and I have already made a plan for the 2027 holidays, with a better balance of work days and childcare.
I’ve also been doing lots of behind-the-scenes work this year. I’ve set up a new online system for all my wedding cake clients, which is going to make my admin so much easier and, hopefully, make everything much clearer and simpler for my couples too.
With the new client portal, everything will be in one place - quotes, sketches, payments, sample box orders and all the other bits and pieces that come with booking your wedding cake. I’m currently in the process of moving all my future couples across to the new system and I honestly cannot wait to have everything in one place!
Although… I do feel like I’ve spent more time on the computer this year than I have baking 😂
For now though, I’m feeling refreshed, organised and very excited for what’s ahead. I’m already busy taking enquiries and bookings for some amazing weddings in 2027 and 2028, alongside some lovely Autumn/Winter 2026 weddings. 🤍
Here’s to a slightly slower, more organised September… and lots more beautiful cakes. 🥂
