Thank you to Roe
With Amanda Roe being the pinnacle of tinned roe it was a lovely surprise to receive a special parcel, with lots of goody’s inside.

As a family we have been selling Amanda Roe for nearly 50 yrs in our MARIOS shops.

Not only we had a few goody’s for our selves they have also kindly deposited some money into our sons bank account to help with some gymnastics gear 👍

Meet Mario — The Chippy Mascot 🐟🍟

Well, it’s official…

This is our Chippy mascot, and we have named him Mario 💙

Yes, it’s only a bit of fun, but we love it, and thank you to everyone who played along yesterday and had a guess at his name. There were some cracking guesses, and even a few of you got it right too, which was surprising 😂

So why Mario?

Well, no, it’s not British by any stretch of the imagination, but it does have a bigger meaning to us.

Firstly, let’s be honest, he does have a little bit of a Mario from the video game look about him 😂

But more importantly, back in the UK, our local chippy was called Mario’s, owned by a family originally from Greece/Cyprus, and hands down it was the best chippy food I have ever had.

And I’ve had a few chippy teas in my time, let me tell you 😂

But it was more than just our local chippy.

Young Mario, the son of the family who owned the chippy, and I became good friends. We played football together and against each other, and he was a proper footballer too.

More importantly, he was always a top bloke.

When we started seriously looking at opening a chippy here in Corralejo, Mario gave me some solid advice, loads of information, and more importantly, some little tips and tricks on how he does things that have been invaluable to us on our own chippy journey.

So, as our little show of gratitude, we decided to name our mascot after him.

Hopefully, he brings us a bit of good luck and some proper chippy magic here in Corralejo 🐟🍟✨

So publicly, thank you Mario for all your help and advice. We really do appreciate it, and hopefully one day you’ll get over here and visit us in person.

Not long to go now folks. We are in the home straight, and soon The Chippy doors will be open.
