Angus and Rosie, two local filmmakers have made a short film inspired by the history of the union flag hanging in St Peter’s church.

After much time and hard work, we are very excited to be screening ‘Union Jack’ at the Tower Bank Arms in Near Sawrey on Thursday 9th July. We would be very grateful if you could share this with the congregation and any local news bulletins as an open invitation.

A post WW1 period drama filmed and set in Sawrey, made with local cast and crew, Union Jack follows life after war for an army chaplin. Returning triumphant with a flag he stole, present at the armistice signing. But returning alone.

The screening will be at 21:30 and we would love for anyone wanting to attend to join earlier to celebrate our village’s history, community and its natural beauty on film.
