THE GREAT EXHIBITION Spotlight: Whitby Hampers

Whitby Hampers is a small, family-run shop located on Flowergate in the heart of Whitby, established in July 2020 by local owners Michelle and John. The business was created to showcase and celebrate high-quality produce from Whitby and the surrounding Yorkshire area, bringing together a range of locally sourced food, drink, and gift items into carefully curated hampers. As part of Whitby’s independent shopping scene, the shop reflects the character of Flowergate—a street known for its mix of traditional and modern retailers—and plays a role in supporting other local producers by promoting their goods to both residents and visitors. Get yourself a lovely treat while you check out the art.

The project is part of the wider Flowergate & Beyond initiative - Supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority - and aims to encourage people to explore the area while engaging with a wide range of artwork inspired by Whitby.
