When we first had the idea for these calm in the choas giftboxes, it wasn’t about making a product. It was about trying to capture something so many parents and carers desperately need: a moment.
A moment where nobody needs anything from you.
A moment to enjoy a cup of tea while it’s still hot.
To light a candle.
To sit down.
To breathe.
Because caring for children is huge. And wonderful. And exhausting. And sometimes it can feel like there’s so much expected of us, while very little is given back.
That feeling is a huge part of why we created Temple of Play. We're creating a place where parents can come through the door and feel that they matter too. Where your child can play while you have a coffee and a chat. Where you can meet another parent who gets it. Where you don't have to have it all together. Where you can take a breath.
And we are so, so close to making that place real.
These giftboxes are one of the ways we're trying to get there. Made in collaboration with the lovely local candle maker Fika & Fell. They're filled with candles, hot drinks and little treats designed to give someone a few moments that belong entirely to them. And a little taste of what's to come when we get to finally opening those doors.
We never planned on creating a product to sell. But we have an amazing opportunity from SSE where they're offering us £1 for every £1 we make in trading income.
So if you buy this giftbox for £25, that's £50 towards Temple of Play.
That's a little box of calm for one person — and a whole lot of connection for hundreds of local families.
If you'd like one, they're available now - templeofplay.co.uk/shop (Free local collection in Ulverston is available as well as postage!)
And if buying one isn't possible right now, that's completely okay. Sharing this post, tagging a friend who might love one, or simply telling someone about Temple of Play helps us too.
We're not just trying to sell 24 boxes - We're trying to open a door to raising kids in community. And we really want to get there.💖
