Okay you lovely people… we have a SERIOUS little Sea Salt & Butter update. 💛

This week will be our LAST full Thursday–Saturday opening week for the winter season!

With the seasonal change here at the coast — and me NEEDING to listen to my body a little more than I’m naturally inclined to 😅 — I’ve made the decision that it’s time for us to pivot the way Sea Salt & Butter operates through the winter.

And I actually think it’s going to be a really good thing.

Running this little bakery has taught me SO much over the last few months. What you love. What works. What doesn’t. What sells out. What I want this business to become… and also what is sustainable for me and my little team.

So rather than trying to force our summer business model through the quieter winter months, we’re changing things up.

This isn’t goodbye.
We’re not disappearing.
And I am DEFINITELY not hanging up my apron. 😂

In fact… there are some pretty exciting things happening behind the scenes. 👀

But for now, I would absolutely LOVE to see you this Thursday, Friday & Saturday for our final full week of regular opening.

Come grab your favourites, fill a box, say hello and help us finish this chapter with a proper Sea Salt & Butter send-off. 🧈🌊

Sometimes growing a business isn’t about doing more.

🎃 WE ARE OPEN!! 🎃

And October has officially arrived at Sea Salt & Butter Bakehouse… 🇺🇸🍂

We’ve got some BRAND NEW bakes on the counter today:

🍁 Pumpkin Cheesecake
Creamy pumpkin cheesecake with a ginger-infused crust, topped with sweet maple cream, caramel sauce & candied pepitas (pumpkin seeds).

🥧 Classic American Pumpkin Pie
Proper pumpkin pie — served as it comes or with a big ol’ dollop of our homemade “Cool Whip.” 🇺🇸

🍎 House Caramel Apple Bread Pudding
Soft, buttery bread pudding loaded with apple and finished with our house caramel. Proper autumn comfort food.

👻 COOKIE N’ SCREAM CAKE CUPS
Rich chocolate cake layered with cookies & cream filling, sweet milk cream and plenty of cookie crumbs. Chocolate lovers… this one is YOURS. 🍫

I will try to get some photos today… but by the time we finished everything last night it was far too dark to do these beauties justice. 😂

Well… apparently I’m not allowed to be the only sick one around here. 😂🤦‍♀️

I’ve just had the message that my staff are poorly! 😔

Unfortunately, that means we won’t be able to open the shop TODAY (Friday). 💛

BUT — I’ll still be tucked away in the bakery today, prepping, baking and getting everything ready because…

🔥 SATURDAY IS GOING TO BE THE DAY TO COME SEE US! 🔥

I’m going to use today to LOAD those counters with treats, goodies and all the October deliciousness I can manage. 🎃🥧🍪

So if you were planning on popping in today, pretty please save that visit for SATURDAY instead. Come hungry, grab yourself a box, bring a friend and help us make up for our unexpected closed day. 🥹💛

You guys are very intuitive… ❤️

I’ve had quite a few messages this week from people checking in, asking if I’m okay, and noticing that I haven’t been online or posting as much as I normally do.

First of all — thank you. Truly. 🥹

The truth is, my health has taken a bit of a turn and I’m still trying to navigate exactly what’s going on and how we move forward from here.

I’m not quite ready to go into full detail yet, mostly because I’m still figuring it all out myself. But my husband is home with me this week helping me get things back on track, and right now I’m trying to listen to my body a little more than I usually do.

And if you know me… you know how HARD that is. 😂

My brain is constantly saying, “We’re fine! Keep going! We have things to do!” while apparently my body has other ideas.

I’ve been told more than once that I need to slow down. The frustrating part is that I genuinely don’t feel like I’m doing that much… but clearly my body — and probably my mind too — are telling me otherwise.

So for now, I’m trying to listen.

I’m trying to give myself a little grace, figure out what our new normal looks like, and accept that slowing down for a minute doesn’t mean giving up.

All I really ask for right now is a little patience and kindness while I navigate this. ❤️

And to every single person who has messaged me, checked in, encouraged me, supported the bakery, or simply noticed I’d gone a little quiet…

Thank you.

You have absolutely no idea how much that kindness means to me.

I’m still here. I’m still me. I may just need to move at a slightly different pace for a little while. ❤️

🎙️ Well… apparently they’re letting me loose on the radio again tomorrow! 😂📻

And I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off October 1st than helping celebrate Lincoln Day! 🏰💛

I’m genuinely so grateful to have been invited on to chat about Lincolnshire, this wonderful place I now get to call home, and what it’s been like for this Oregon girl 🇺🇸 to build a life — and a little American bakery — right here on the Lincolnshire coast. 🇬🇧

There’s something pretty special about coming all the way from Oregon to Lincolnshire and now getting the opportunity to go on the radio and celebrate the county that welcomed me and has become such a huge part of my story. 🥹💛

And obviously… I’m not showing up empty-handed. 😂

Tomorrow is October 1st, which means I am OFFICIALLY declaring pumpkin season OPEN. 🎃🎃🎃

So I’ll be bringing along some proper American pumpkin pie and doing my bit to spread the American love — or slight obsession 🤣 — for ALL THINGS PUMPKIN this October.

While I’m off talking, laughing and trying to convince Lincolnshire that pumpkin absolutely belongs in a pie, Mel & Kaitlin will be holding down the fort at Sea Salt & Butter tomorrow morning. 💪🏼🧈

I’m incredibly grateful for opportunities like this, but even more grateful for YOU — the people who walk through our doors, recommend us, share our posts, bring your friends and continue supporting this crazy little American dream of mine.

We’re getting ready to launch our bi-weekly Sunday evening NOTTS Crumb Cartel drops… but we’re missing one very important thing:

👉 A BEESTON DROP SPOT!

We’re looking for a local business in the Beeston area that would be happy for us to use their location for around 30–60 minutes on a Sunday evening while our customers collect their Crumb Cartel boxes.

Everything will already be PRE-ORDERED & PAID FOR — we won’t be setting up a stall or selling on-site. We simply need an easy-to-find meeting point, preferably somewhere with convenient parking. 🚗🍪

A little bakery update from me… 💛🥧

First of all, THANK YOU for another fab week! Honestly, you lot continue to show up for us and I’m so incredibly grateful. 🥹

This coming week may look a little lighter in the counters than usual — Mel is off enjoying a very well-deserved holiday, and tomorrow I’m heading to Nottingham for a pretty big personal milestone…

✨ My immigration appointment for my ILR! 🇬🇧🇺🇸

After more than five years of building a life here, this is one more HUGE step towards eventually becoming a British citizen. It feels a little surreal to even say that! ❤️

So today I am doing something I’m not always very good at… taking the WHOLE day off. 😂 Tomorrow is Nottingham and immigration, and then it’s straight back into the bakery.

We’ll still have plenty of your favourites this week, but SATURDAY will be our LOADED day, so if you’re planning a visit and want the biggest selection, Saturday is your day! 🙌

AND THEN… OCTOBER. 🎃🥧🍂

We are officially declaring OCTOBER = PIE MONTH at Sea Salt & Butter!

Pumpkin Pie will be making its return, and throughout the month you’ll start seeing some brand-new bakes slowly sneaking their way onto the counter. Think proper American autumn, big flavours, cosy bakes and plenty of things you probably won’t find anywhere else around here. 🇺🇸

I’ve been working on some really fun things behind the scenes and I cannot WAIT to start sharing them with you.
