✨ Big updates from the café… and things are really coming together! ✨

The last few weeks have been full-on but exciting. The kitchen has had a proper glow-up with brand new cupboards fitted, the shutter hatch fixed, the canopy deep-cleaned to near new, and all the main cooking equipment installed and signed off 🔥

We’ve also had our till system upgraded and installed ready to go, and our Coca-Cola drinks fridge is being delivered this Thursday 🥤

Behind the scenes we’ve been cleaning, reorganising, testing layouts, and making sure everything flows properly so we’re ready for those busy mornings. It’s been a graft, but it’s starting to look and feel like a proper café now ☕🍳

We’re aiming to open on Monday 2nd Feb (Fingers Crossed), and we honestly can’t wait to start serving you all. Thank you to everyone who’s popped their head in, wished us luck, or asked when we’re opening – the support has meant a lot.

☕️Old Kent Road Part-Time Café Staff Wanted – Early Mornings ☕️

🕡 Hours: Monday–Friday 6:30am – 10:30am
📍 Location: Old Kent Road

The role includes:
• Cooking breakfast items
• Serving customers
• Keeping the café clean and organised
• Helping with morning prep ready for the rush

This role suits someone who:
✔️ Is happy with early starts
✔️ Works well in a fast-paced environment
✔️ Is calm, organised and reliable
✔️ Enjoys customer service

Experience in cafés or food service is a bonus, but training will be given for the right person with the right attitude.

A little update from us 👀
When we first got the keys, the space definitely needed some love… so we’ve rolled our sleeves up and cracked on. New breakfast bars are in, the kitchen’s had a fresh lick of paint, and the canopy’s been cleaned back to near new. It’s already a huge difference.
Even better news — brand new equipment starts going in next week, which is when things really start to feel real 😅🔥
Still plenty going on behind the scenes, but it’s all coming together and we’re getting more excited by the day. Can’t wait to get open and start feeding you properly 🍳🥓

A little update from us 👋
We’ve recently taken over the café at Selco Old Kent Road and we’re currently busy behind the scenes getting everything exactly how it should be.

Right now we’re:
Deep cleaning from top to bottom
Reorganising the space so it flows properly
Reworking the kitchen layout
Getting new equipment in
And setting things up to work better for early starts and busy days
We want this café to be simple, efficient and reliable — good food, strong coffee, and a setup that actually works for the people using Selco every day.
We’re not rushing it just to reopen quickly. We’re taking the time to get it right so when we open, it’s clean, organised, and something we’re proud of.
We’ll be back open very soon and we’ll keep sharing updates as we go.
