We are closed Saturday for a private party for a very special lady. We are still taking bookings for Sunday online

Good Evening .
Please can I ask when booking Sunday lunch you let us know if there are any under 10s in the party who only want a small child’s serving.
Secondly,
We have had quite a few bookings turn up without letting us know the party has reduced in numbers. This on top of people cancelling as little as 2 hours before arrival and then stopping the deposit. All these terms are on the booking system clearly and need confirmation to make the booking. I am not being unreasonable or trying to rip anyone off. We are a small independent restaurant that is trying to battle this storm that hospitality is going through, where a very few are oblivious or just don’t care. Sunday lunch produce is very expensive and we prepare fresh and order sufficient for the bookings we have. If I get no shows or reduced numbers this is pure waste at a very high cost. Along with staff costs. We work on advanced bookings and do not get walk ins, some people may think we will resell the empty spaces. 99% of the time they are not refilled.
I understand people get sick or things happen but we cannot afford to bare the costs. Thank you for reading and understanding, it’s always difficult writing things like this as all we want is customers to be happy and return. With overheads and costs as they are, more of the above will only increase the chance of not being able to open at all.
