Guys, just to clarify...
Amici Restaurant has had more or less the same staff for four years. This is because we decided to hire young people, teach them the job, and keep the entire team on through the winter.
Even though we lose money in the winter, we’ve never laid anyone off; maintaining a professional staff costs money, and we chose to shoulder that expense by keeping them employed year-round.
Now, I’d like to understand why some restaurants in Shanklin are offering jobs to my employees without asking me—and promising them winter work, too, even though everyone knows almost everywhere closes during the winter...
To all the restaurants in Shanklin: pay your people in the winter, pay for their holidays, pay for everything just like we do. Then, in the summer, you won't need to try and poach my staff—otherwise, I’ll start cooking Chicken Marsala and making toasties...
There is no respect in Shanklin, not even among restaurants. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
