🌟We are thrilled to be included again this year in “100 best local restaurants” in partnership with 🌟

This year the list is ranked and we have been placed at 🌟45 🌟which is an amazing achievement and not one we expected!

For a little independent restaurant in Settle, this means the world to us. It’s proof that you don’t have to be in a big city to create something people will travel for.

Thanks a million to everyone who supports us every day, every booking, celebration, recommendation! We wouldn’t be here without you all!

Independent hospitality is facing challenges, (which I’m sure you’ve all read about). Every time you choose to eat at an independent restaurant, you’re helping people like us continue to do what we love.

We went to London yesterday to the the awards ceremony today and were amongst 96 of the 100 restaurants! Lots of talent in one room!

We are lucky to be amongst lovely company in Yorkshire and Lancashire - .restaurant

And congratulations to our nearby neighbour who ranked at no. 1! A phenomenal achievement! 🌟

One of the things we love most is seeing the food we create being enjoyed and shared with friends.

Gathered around a table over conversation, laughter, good food and great wine. It’s one of the reasons we’ve stayed in this industry for so long, and one of the reasons we still look forward to going to work every day.

There’s something pretty special about one of life’s simplest pleasures. Good quality food, interesting wine, and good company. 🌿💚

*Red sky at night* , blitzed sour cherries, cane sugar, - like a naughty cherry pie in a glass.

*Green Danger* This one has quite a following. vodka shaken with freshly squeezed cucumber, jalapeño, ginger & lime, a hint of sweet for balance.

A little reminder about the guy behind the pans 👨‍🍳

Before opening The Nettle, Iain spent over 20 years working in some pretty serious kitchens. From London restaurants like Providores, Caravan & The Caprice Group, to Michelin-starred Gilpin in the Lakes. Along the way he’s worked with chefs including Mark Hix, Peter Gordon, Jack Bond, Jamie Oliver & more.

But the whole point of The Nettle was never to make “fancy” food for the sake of it. It was about bringing that experience back home and making really good food feel relaxed, welcoming and accessible. No pretence. Just thoughtful cooking, good produce, proper drinks and a place people actually want to spend time in.

Outside the restaurant world, Iain’s also worked as a food stylist for brands including Waitrose, Bombay Sapphire, M&S and Moët Hennessy, with shoots appearing in Vogue, which probably explains why he obsesses over every tiny detail on the plate 😅

The reality though? Most days are less glamorous. Early mornings. Late nights. Burnt fingers. Last-minute deliveries. Fixing things that break. Tasting dishes 100 times. Trying to build something special in a small Yorkshire market town.
