Maisie Meehan Fundraiser
Maisie is a five-year-old girl living with cerebral palsy and in Goldthorpe. Throughout her life, she has undergone treatments and tests in the hope of improving her quality of life. More recently, her family have been told that no further medical intervention is available, and that Maisie must now manage the condition as well as possible with the support around her.
I know Maisie personally, as her mother, Becky, works for my business, The Bees Knees Sandwich Shop, and Maisie regularly visits us there. She is a delightful little girl with a real zest for life, and like any child her age, she simply wants to enjoy everyday experiences and do the things other young children do.
One of Maisie’s regular challenges is getting to school, which is around half a mile from her home in Goldthorpe. She values her independence and loves to walk whenever she can, despite the obvious difficulties this can present.
Why the Specialist Trike Is Needed
The family have recently been advised that a specialist trike would greatly benefit Maisie. It would help her travel to school more easily and safely, while also allowing her to join in with her friends during breaktimes and enjoy greater independence.
The specialist trike must be customised to meet Maisie’s specific needs.
The total cost is £1,700.
So far, the family have raised just over £200 through raffles at our shop and at Maisie’s school.
Although fundraising is ongoing, progress is understandably slow.
On a personal note, I truly wish I were in a position to purchase the trike for Maisie myself. I will continue to support the family in any way I can, but unfortunately the full cost is beyond what I can afford personally.
Request for Support
With this in mind, please support the raffles we are running in the shop or give a donation to help the challenge and get Maisie her trike.
Thank you for your consideration.
