In September 2026, the League of Friends at the Alexandra Hospital celebrates its 40th Anniversary.

As part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations, volunteers were treated to an afternoon tea in the hospital coffee shop. It was a wonderful opportunity to thank them for their dedication and support, and the event was greatly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

BOOK APPEAL

At League of Friends, we are always grateful for donations of books, but our storage space is very limited. Recent paperbacks are especially popular and tend to fly off the shelves, as do biographies.

Older travel guides and technical books are less in demand. We have also found that DVDs and magazines are no longer popular.

Jigsaws, on the other hand, are very welcome.

Thank you to everyone who supports our book sales. They not only provide enjoyment for patients, staff, and visitors, but also help us raise significant funds to donate to the Alex.

League of Friends volunteer Eddie Flynn is also a talented artist. The staff of ward 12 were delighted to receive one of Eddie’s landscapes. The painting will be hung in the Stephen Bailey suite.
