Best in Show at the RAC Concours!
Following the success of last year’s inaugural Royal Automobile Club Concours, yesterday saw its welcome return to Woodcote Park. Curated by Pendine was delighted to present two client cars on the concours lawn.
The Woodcote Trophy celebrates two-seater sports and sports-racing cars built before 1956 – and owners with a competitive spirit. The Jaguar C-Type XKC-044 certainly qualified, with exceptional period competition history and an owner who continues to enjoy the car as intended, most recently shipping it to the USA to compete in last summer’s Colorado Grand.
The judges – Leonora Martell-Surtees, daughter of Sir John Surtees and Richard Hammond clearly agreed, awarding the car Best in Class. The car caught the attention of Neil Fletcher and the whole judging panel with XKC-044 also being awarded Best in Show.
The second Pendine car on the lawn was the 1964 Abarth-Simca 2000 Corsa, which competed in the 1967 Targa Florio as car number 144, driven by Alfonso Vella. The car displayed in the Targa Florio class to mark the event’s 120th anniversary.
The owner was delighted to receive Runner-Up in class, behind the thoroughly deserving 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.8 RSR.
A huge thank you to our clients for giving us the privilege of sharing these remarkable cars and their stories.
