💛 Our littlest fundraiser… & a very proud parent moment. 💛
On Thursday morning, I was telling our 5 year old, Aggie that I was meeting with Sheila from Hope Street later that morning to talk about their new premises and how we at The Hayfield could help with their fundraising.
I explained a little about what Hope Street does and how they support people experiencing homelessness, loneliness and vulnerability, and people who simply need someone in their corner.
That night, Aggie lost her fourth tooth. 🦷✨
On Friday morning, the Tooth Fairy had been and had brought her a little bracelet-making kit. 🧚♀️
Aggie had an idea.💡 She wanted to make friendship bracelets, sell them for £2 each and give the money to Hope Street. 🥹
So on Friday and Saturday, that’s exactly what she did.
She made her own little sign, set herself up outside the front of The Hayfield and proudly sold her bracelets to our customers and people passing by.
And last night she was busy making even more ready to sell again today! ❤️
It might seem like a little thing, but as her parents and as people who run a community pub, this one means an awful lot to us.
When you run a pub, your children see you working a lot. They see the long days, the weekends, the events, the phone calls and all the times Mum and Dad are busy because of “the pub”.
Sometimes you wonder what they’ll remember about growing up around it. We hope they don’t just remember that we were always working.
We hope they remember the fundraisers, the collections, the community groups and the people we’ve tried to help. That they remember seeing their pub welcome someone who was lonely, rally around a family going through a difficult time, raise money for people who needed it and bring a community together.
We hope that they remember mummy and daddy always helping people and the pride of being part of a team who come together to help others ❤️
Because a good pub can be so much more than somewhere to have a drink. It can be a place that looks after people. A safe haven. A community hub 🫶
And yesterday, seeing our five-year-old hear about Hope Street and decide, completely by herself, “I can help them”, made us realise that perhaps some of it is already rubbing off. 🥹
If growing up at The Hayfield teaches our children anything, we hope it’s the importance of community and that if you have an opportunity to help someone, you take it, no matter how small your contribution might seem.

She’s got a fresh batch of Aggie originals for £2 each, and she’s very excited to continue her fundraising. 🌈❤️
