There’s a theme…. in my next life I’ll be a travel agent!

I like to experience, move, create, explore - all of these things make me feel alive, like I’m living and experiencing the world as much as I can.

It’s also really important to show my kids as much as I can.

Last night I landed home after 5 days in France on a Creative Writing Retreated hosted by Lucy Werner . After a year of very little down time, this was the perfect end to summer.

Being surrounded by 10 other women who have all built or are building businesses felt unique - even though we were all from different backgrounds, we understood each other, allowed rest, quiet, reflection alongside lots of fun, laughs and silliness.

Each day we ate together, wrote together and shared stories in the French countryside at the gorgeous Reve Retreat, cared for, watered and fed much better than I could’ve ever imagined.

Today I sink back into client work, heart full and happy!

At what point do you need a Brand Designer?

From the start, sure but most people who have DIY’d their brand usually a come back to the need a couple of years in when you’ve ironed out the creases and you’re really beginning to know exactly who you are, or who you aren’t - which is what your first brand edition may be showcasing.

But if you know that to begin with then don’t do it twice, it requires more of your time and it may be time you may not have as your business grows and speeds up.

What do you notice?
Do you trust AI generated posters?
Or are you bored of them already?

My town is flooded with them but I have questions.

Does AI create a style? Yes, look they’re all the same! A creative opinion? No. It doesn’t have years of creative experience, or spend 2 days at a tradeshow, three days at a marketing conference or travel to new cities or galleries for inspiration. To hone its craft, to be valuable, not to mention years in industry. Isn’t it a thought to think that AI can replicate all of that? 

It can’t.

And maybe people creating these posters don’t care about these questions, thoughts, they just need to promote their event in the most professional way possible and I get that too, as a local business owner i really do.

But what I will say is please rep your local creative. There’s always one within your budget, or if not budget use Canva, an affordable and amazing tool and with it, you won’t need to look like the slop anymore.

Over the last year I’ve come to the realisation that my passion is PEOPLE.

Being able to support people through their journey in business whether that’s through my knowledge of building brands and working within product based businesses or being able to calmly facilitate a group of people as they are entering a new time or space. 

is a place that is safe and calm - where each and every person can be seen, heard and valued. I’m so lucky that I get to build this space with my good friend and all the people that are a part of it.

The process of getting there is just as important - we’re going on a journey together, you and I.

I cannot design you ‘just a logo’.

So, when the world asks if I’m worried about AI taking my job, the answer is no. Humans want humans, we value expertise and the journey in getting there. It’s something that can never be replicated because it’s a feeling.

And I make brands look as good as they feeeellll.

HEY, I’m Amy 👋

19 years (gulp) in the creative industry and still utterly obsessed with brands AND the people behind them doing good.

I’m a creative supporter, cheerleader and mentor all rolled into one 💁‍♀️

By day I’m a brand consultant helping purpose-driven businesses find their style (branding, web design - all - of - it). Before going freelance in 2020 I worked at the one of the globe’s most loved parenting brands, I now work with growing businesses to help them ace their creative comms and level up their brand.

Last year I finally stopped talking about wanting “community” (it had been on my vision board for 7 years 👀) and actually did something about it. And so with a little help from my friends, we founded The Good Space Pilates, a creative community space in my hometown of Dawlish.

Now I split my time between helping brands grow and building a space where our local creatives and entrepreneurs can do the same - both include my passion, people! 🍀

I’ve worked in large, medium and small businesses, with experience of founding three myself.
