Well folks… that's a wrap on the street food chapter of Auntie Em's Kitchen 👋🏼
To every customer, supporter, team member, event organiser, friend and family member who backed us along the way, thank you. You helped turn a my dreams into a business that exceeded anything I ever imagined.
While you won't find us serving dirty fries from a gazebo anymore, this isn't goodbye to Auntie Em's Kitchen.
Not by a long shot 😏
There are some exciting new adventures bubbling away behind the scenes, and I can't wait to share them with you when the time is right.
Until then, thank you for every order, every recommendation, every review, every queue, every laugh and every memory.
You've been incredibly brilliant 🤍✨
Love,
Auntie Em x

Well… this is a post I never imagined I’d be writing 💔🍟

After a lot of tears, stress, spreadsheets, and some really difficult conversations, I’ve made the decision that Auntie Em’s Kitchen will no longer be trading as a street food business.

What started with a £50 Amazon gazebo trying to blow away in a field somehow grew into feeding thousands of people across festivals, weddings, parties and events. We built something people genuinely connected with. A business people queued for, came back for, and recommended to their mates after one bite of dirty fries 😅🔥

I’m unbelievably proud of that.

But I also think there needs to be more honesty around what happens behind the scenes of small independent businesses.

When payments aren’t made on time, when deposits don’t arrive when agreed, or communication disappears, it doesn’t just create an awkward admin task. It has a real knock-on impact. For businesses like mine, that cash flow is what secures festival pitches, buys stock, pays suppliers, covers staffing, and keeps the wheels turning.

Unfortunately, the strain of carrying that uncertainty, alongside ongoing health struggles, has left me in a position where continuing to run Auntie Em’s in this capacity just no longer makes financial sense.

And that’s heartbreaking to admit out loud.

To every single person who ordered from us, booked us, supported us, worked alongside us, queued in the rain, shared a post, or told a friend “you NEED to try these fries”… thank you 🤍

You helped build something really special.

BUT.

If there’s one thing you should know about me by now… it’s that I’m not very good at staying down for long 😅

So this isn’t goodbye to Auntie Em. Not even close.
Sometimes things have to fall apart so something stronger can take their place.

And I have a feeling the next chapter might be the most exciting one yet ✨

I jumped on the trend and asked ChatGPT to create a character of me…
then asked it why it created the image the way it did.
This is what came back:

Food was never just food.
It’s safety.
It’s dignity.
It’s connection.
It’s how you say “I’ve got you” without making a speech.

Learning and doing side by side.
The apron stays on, even as the ideas get bigger.
Planning properly, because people are affected by the outcome.
Community not as a slogan, but a responsibility.

It started as a fun experiment.
It ended up reminding me why I do this.

2025… thank you 💛

You were busy.
Like, properly busy.
But also full of moments we’ll carry with us for a long time.

This year took me back to university for my final semester, making chocolate from bean to bar. Real cacao, real craft, real joy.

March saw Auntie Em’s back where I belong, behind the counter serving Dirty Fries again. Comfort food, good vibes and happy faces. At the same time, Auntie's Cookery Academy began working with the YMCA, which felt like the beginning of something genuinely special. Watching young people grow in confidence through food has been one of the greatest privileges of the year.

Spring was a whirlwind. Family time, Easter, finals, group presentations, taste tests and submitting my dissertation. It was a lot. We made it through. Mostly thanks to tea, tequila and sheer determination.

Summer brought some much-needed balance. A weekend away with my sister, Sophie Dale, Choir BLAST enjoyed without an apron on, more community events and more fries. July also delivered my degree results. A first. Still feels a bit unreal.

It was also a year of heartbreak. Saying goodbye to my little bestie Juno was incredibly hard. Grief has a way of sitting alongside joy, and this year held both. A family holiday soon after reminded me how powerful time together, laughter and the innocence of children can nourish the soul.

Autumn was full on in the best way. Festivals, private events, growing ACA, meeting inspiring people and sharing what we’re building. October gave a brief pause to reset, then it was straight back into it. And in December, a huge milestone. Auntie’s Cookery Academy officially became a registered charity. Still can’t quite believe it.

We ended the year feeding people at festive events, celebrating big wins, closing chapters and feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported, booked us, cheered us on or simply eaten our fries.

So thank you, 2025.
For the lessons.
For the growth.
For the community.

And hello 2026.
We’re stepping into you excited, hopeful and ready.
More impact. More connection. More food that brings people together.

Let’s see what you’ve got 💫
