🚨 WANTED: THE SEASONED BANDITS 🚨

We knew our styling was good, but we didn’t realize our tableware was a hot commodity!

Over the last few weeks, a whopping four sets of our salt and pepper mills have mysteriously vanished from across The Pantry Malton and The Pantry Scampston.
To the culprits: we get it, freshly cracked black pepper is a game-changer. But we’re pretty sure “assault and battery” doesn’t mean “a-salt and peppery.” 🧂🕵️‍♂️

Look, we really don’t want to have to put the price of your morning flat white up just to cover our new “seasoning replacement fund”—so please, if you or your dining room table are currently harboring our missing grinders, just pop them back. No questions asked. We just want our tables reunited with their better halves. ☕️💸

In the meantime, if you see anyone walking down the street suspiciously shaking their hands in a twisting motion... you know who to call.

Job Opportunity: Catering Assistant – The Pantry (Scampston & Malton)

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to join our team, working across both The Pantry at Scampston and The Pantry Malton.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy café environment and is happy to support two different service styles – counter service at Scampston and table service in Malton.

- Start Date: 16th July 2026
- Typical Schedule: 3-4 days per week, with the opportunity to work additional hours to help cover staff holidays. Determined by weekly roster.
- Permanent position (Hours at Scampston to end November 2026, but shifts will continue to be made available at Malton)

Job Description

As part of The Pantry team, you will help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our customers across both cafés.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Greeting and serving customers in a warm and professional manner
- Taking customer orders and processing payments
- Preparing and serving drinks and light food items
- Providing table service at our Malton café
- Supporting counter service at our Scampston café
- Clearing and resetting tables
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the café
- Supporting general housekeeping duties including washing up, cleaning work areas, and keeping front and back of house tidy
- Working collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth daily operations

What We’re Looking For

- A positive, friendly attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Reliability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and bank holidays
- Willingness to work across both locations

Previous café or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential.

We are back for the 2026 season at Scampston! 🎉

We know our move to Grab & Go and bean-to-cup coffee has raised a few eyebrows, and we get it—change is hard! But let’s be honest: no one buys a ticket to Scampston to spend 45 minutes staring at our cafe floor waiting for a sandwich while their House Tour ticket ticks away. 🌸⏱️

We shifted to Grab & Go and bean-to-cup coffee for a number of reasons, but one standout reason was you.

We value your time with the flowers, not in a queue. But as the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we needed a few days to iron out the creases!

After a bit of adjusting, we are thrilled to say:

🥛 Froth on demand: We have secured a separate mini milk frother specifically for our decaf and plant-based milk drinkers!

☕️ The Fan Favourite is back: We have just secured a fresh delivery of our beloved Roost Tonto beans!

🥪 More choice, less waiting: We actually have more food options than last year. They are just ready to roll so you can eat during your visit, not after it. (And yes, some made-to-order items are still available! Rarebit anyone? 😉) A grab & go version of our popular gardeners lunch will be in the fridge from Wednesday too!

🏃‍♀️Heading off? We will happily bag up your food items and offer hot drinks in takeaway cups 👌
