A little apology from The Barque…

We’re really sorry, but due to staff sickness, we’ve made the difficult decision that The Barque will have to close today.

We know this is disappointing, especially if you were planning on popping in for a drink or a bite to eat, and we’re genuinely sorry for any inconvenience caused. Sometimes, even the best-laid plans get scuppered!

Please don’t worry, though… The Ancient Mariner is still open and ready to welcome you!

So if you’re heading our way today, you can still find a warm welcome, a cold drink and plenty of good cheer just a few doors down at The Ancient Mariner.

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support — it really does mean a lot to us.

Friday nights are for The Barque!

There’s something rather lovely about the end of the week… finishing work, catching up with friends, bumping into familiar faces and settling in for a drink or two. And that’s exactly what Friday nights at The Barque are all about.

Did you know we have Happy Hour every Friday from 5.30pm – 6.30pm?

We’re giving you an extra discount on all drinks, along with free nibbles to enjoy while you catch up and unwind.

And we’re especially pleased to have a familiar face back behind the bar on Fridays — our local favourite, Russell!

Russell knows plenty of our regulars, and we love having that familiar, friendly face helping to make Friday nights at The Barque feel like they should — relaxed, welcoming and a little bit like coming home.

Whether you’re a regular, you haven’t been in for a while, or you’ve never stepped through our doors before, you’re always welcome at The Barque.

With candlelight, a roaring fire and live acoustic music, it’s the perfect way to embrace the magic of Exmoor after dark.

The festival is all about exploring Exmoor at night — discovering its incredible starry skies, astronomy, wildlife and the beauty of our dark landscape.

🍁 Summer, you’ve been a good one…

What a few months it’s been at The Barque! We’ve welcomed familiar faces, met plenty of new ones, served up lots of good food and poured more than a few pints along the way.

A massive thank you to everyone who’s spent part of their summer with us. Whether you’ve been in every week or just called by while visiting the area, we really do appreciate every single one of you.

Now the nights are starting to draw in and Autumn is just around the corner, it’s time for us to switch things up a little.

From Monday 7th September, we’ll be moving over to our Autumn opening times, and there’ll also be a change to our kitchen hours:

🍴 Our kitchen will be closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

Don’t worry though — there are still plenty of opportunities throughout the rest of the week to get your fix of our fresh, homemade food, alongside a good pint, a warm welcome and the sort of company that can turn “just one” into an entire evening!

We’re looking forward to a slightly slower pace, cosy Autumn days and evenings, hearty food and plenty more good times at The Barque.

Thanks for keeping us busy, keeping us smiling and continuing to support us.
