The Flapper from a combination of deep fried Chicken Breast Fillet and double smash beef patties in a brioche bun, doused in their signature sauce and melted cheese.
Presentationaly the burger was spot on, it looked the part and was generous in size considering the £9.99 price tag.
I opted for the flapper over just a smash as I am a bit fed up of smash burgers and was skeptical they could match the top smash burgers around at the moment, so in order to disguise a potential disappointment I opted for a combo burger which I felt would mask any shortcomings.
And that was exactly what it did, as a burger the flapper did the job and satisfied my hunger, the burger as a whole tasted fine, nothing special but not bad either. Delve a bit deeper and you realise that individually the burger contents were substandard.
The fillet was mostly breadcrumb, very thin and crispy and lacking that thick moist breast chicken. The smash patties looked dry, and they tasted dry, the sauce masks this, but the beef itself lacked flavour and lacked that grease you get from fatty meat that gives the beef its flavour and moistness.
The burger was average, as I stated before not bad not great either, it's a shame they went down the smash burger route as the competition in that market currently is fierce and you're always gonna struggle to make yours stand out.
I upgraded my fries for their loaded fries which were actually pretty good, topped with chunks of the fillet chicken, cheese and their signature sauces, it was just right, some loaded fries can be overloaded with sauce and topping that you just loose the chips.
Overall unfortunately this wouldn't be a place I'd be shouting about or recommending to anyone, it's quite expensive and the quality doesn't match the price, it's just not worth going out of your way for to visit.
2.5/5 bang average.
