Several Cllrs were invited to a Dig near Alton , 1500 artefacts of Anglo Saxon and Roman origin found ! It’s so important this history is discovered and conserved . We are so lucky to have The Curtis Museum which has so many Anglo Saxon and Roman items of which it is custodian . Alton really was a very important Anglo Saxon and Roman town including Neatham . Wi******er to Alton has a Roman road and was an important trading route .

I’ve just had an update on the repair of the gas lamp in Kings road

Hi Ginny,

Many thanks for your email.

The main column of the lamp should be ready for collection and re-installation by approx. end of October.

The lantern will take a couple of months longer and can be fitted separately to the column.

As soon as I hear from the contractor, I will update you further.

Kind regards,

Simon Carpenter
