Good Humour a must

From all of us here, we wish you the Merriest of Christmases, to you and yours

We only wish we could have shared some of it with you. Raised a glass, sung a song - stole a Sausage. Hopefully, nest year

I cannot help and be a little honest - because as much as this fight is to maintain an authentic piece of living history, and preserve a shared history that explains today. Selfishly, It is also to get back to some of the great memories we have created and the good times we have shared

We don't just preserve the ashes, we stoke the flame

Wherever you are, I truly hope you're having a wonderful time and I hope to see you soon

Merry Christmas

I was reminded this week that as Simpsons Tavern has sat empty and unused after unlawfully forfeited the premises some 9 months ago, it is beginning to have parallels with Charles Dickens "Bleak House"

Published as a serial in from 1852 it centres on a long running g legal case

"The one great principal of the English Law, is to make business for itself"

As we wait for the slow wheels of justice to turn, the words do ring true

While the original series was accused of exaggeration at the time, it did also help support a judicial reform movement that culminated in the enactment of legal reform in the 1870s

We where always proud to host the Dickens society annually before their dinner, as we had once hosted Dickens himself, but now, thanks to a clutching covetous old sinner, we are closed this chapter in history

"As all partings foreshadow the great one, so empty rooms, bereft of a familiar presence, mournfully whisper what your room and mine must one day be "

A wonderful old Victorian era image of the Grill room at Simpsons Tavern

I thought I would put it up with others to show what it did look like, next to what it does look like now have forced its closure and what it should look like if only they would see reason

We continue to sue the Landlord and have faith the system will vindicate us here. But slow grinds the wheels

Slow grinds the wheels of justice, but as I watch Clarissa speak of the significance of our shared dining history - our most direct link to the past - I remember why we do this

Simpsons is a shared part of our history where we come together, not to worship its ashes, but to be united by our common heritage

Simpsons Tavern is a historic gem, living history that you can touch, smell and above all Taste!

It must be preserved from the Vandals of

I remain bitter, I will not lie
The coronation was a magnificent spectacle, and being closed for it will stay with me.

It does though, add fire to the belly

The incompetent handling of this by and their unnamed offshore client will be seen out

They have failed in their initial attempt to wind us up - we are a solvent rent paying concern - our books show this and the Court has seen it too

They will be shown to be procedurally and equitably wrong in their arguments and are at risk of having to pay damages

We should be open and trading whilst this is demonstrated, but I honestly fear that its a bit of embarrassment that is stopping them.

It is certainly not commercial thinking that stops them, any competent agent would be collecting rent, not losses during this time

Still, what is right will win out

After all the colour and pageantry of what was a wonderful weekend, I thought I would juxtapose a black & white image of Simpson’s Tavern

As the world goes on in joy and celebration, it sits dark at the end of an alley

The lights turned off by the doors locked by

The left darker for no good reason

Thank you .p.rosenthal for the great image
