Bad Lighting Is a Crime Against Furniture
Light is the great gossip of the room.
It tells on everything. The polished table, the gilded frame, the lacquered cabinet, the glass shade, the mirror hung just a touch too high by someone who thought they were being clever. Light finds the scratch, the bevel, the water stain, the gilt edge, the repaired foot, the good bronze, the tired reproduction, the glass that sings, and the object that looked much better in the auction photograph.
