‘After S. Sigi’ is from Charly Helyar’s Matrices series, in which she depicts fleeting domestic moments that might otherwise go unnoticed, nestling them within fragments of dismantled and reassembled furniture. Through these acts of devotion and care, the everyday is elevated.

Currently on view at EDE Projects | Art Gallery as part of Finders Keepers, a duo exhibition featuring and Eloise Dethier-Eaton, curated by Adela Blanco.

Introducing Charly Helyar , one of the featured artists in our upcoming exhibition "Finders Keepers" at EDE Projects | Art Gallery by Adela Blanco Adela Blanco

Her work moves between the intimate and the monumental, from miniature oil paintings on copper to large-scale installations such as General Situation (2025), alongside live performance works including Cleanse (2024).

Helyar takes a meticulous, hands-on approach to making, often preparing her own gesso and paints. Her layered compositions bring together vivid colour, figures, objects, and fragments of everyday life, engaging with themes including ageing, sexuality, and conflict.

In her Matrices series, discarded furniture is dismantled and reconstructed into jewel-like constructions containing tiny oil paintings on copper and linen, works small enough to rest in the palm of a hand.

The series brings together painting, sculpture, and domestic objects, transforming overlooked materials into intimate, highly crafted works.

This week, we take a closer look at the practice of .

Eleni Maragaki’s practice focuses on bridging the dichotomy between urban construction and the natural environment, understanding architecture as being in constant dialogue with the landscape. In response to densely manufactured urban spaces, she draws inspiration from the delicacy found in natural systems.

In her work, the deconstruction of the landscape through abstract geometric forms reflects the tensions between the city and its surrounding natural world, where human-made and artificial components alter and deform the natural environment.

Compartmentalisation, seriality, close observation, and categorisation are integral to her methodology. The visualisation of theoretical research is considered as important as the practical aspect of her art.

Audience engagement is a key element, explored through interactive artworks that invite a space to examine the dynamics between the human element, geometry, and nature.
