THE EVERYTHING ROAST.

Because apparently a ā€˜normal’ Sunday roast isn’t enough.

Built for 2-4 people, depending on appetite. Bring your hungriest crew.

Roast sirloin of beef, Bank Top Farm lamb henry, pork loin with crackling and chicken supreme. Pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, roasties, buttery mash, carrot & swede mash, braised red cabbage, seasonal veg, fresh sage & onion stuffing and massive Yorkies - all absolutely drowned in our four-day bone marrow gravy.

And then, because we clearly don’t know when to stop…

A rag pudding for good measure.

Completely ridiculous.

The puddings might be Yorkshire, but what we’re pouring into them is pure Lancashire hospitality. šŸ¤Ž
Tim’s bone marrow gravy takes four days to prepare, and you can tell…
UNLIMITED GRAVY with T’EVERYTHING ROAST

Fill your Yorkies, drench your roasties and mop up every last drop. We’ll keep the gravy coming.

Teams been busy this morning experimenting…..

We’ve got a (not so) little something special coming next Sunday…

We can’t show you too much just yet, so this one’s staying under wraps for now.

What we can tell you is that if you’re a fan of a proper Sunday roast but struggle to decide, you’re going to want to keep an eye on this one.

Full details out Tuesday.

Better get back to the actual running of the restaurant now as we have an almost fully booked afternoon but all we will say is…..you might want to save some room next Sunday!!

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content!….and Sundays are made for breakfasts & roasts up the hill…

Whether you’re after a proper full english, Eggs Benedict, smashed avocado on toast, something a little lighter with yoghurt, granola and fresh fruit, or just a good coffee and a slow start to the day, we’ve got you covered.

And we don’t forget anyone either….we’ve got vegan, veggie, lighter bites, double sized and gluten-free breakfast options available too.

Breakfast is served every Sunday from 9am until 11:45am at The Moorcock.

No rush, no fuss…..just good food, good coffee and a proper Sunday morning.

Then from 12pm, the Sunday roasts take over…

Oh… and did we mention?

The Lamb Henry Sunday Roast is back…..farm to fork from our mates round the corner at Bank Top Farm

Proper Sunday food, back where it belongs.

TODAY’S THE DAY, OUR NEW AUTUMN/WINTER MENU HAS LANDED

The nights are drawing in, the weather is turning, and up on Blackstone Edge that means one thing…

Proper pub food season by a log fire is officially here!

Today we launch our brand new Autumn/Winter menu at The Moorcock, bringing together everything we love about this time of year….rich flavours, comforting classics, seasonal ingredients and the sort of food you actually want when it’s cold outside.

We’ve kept the dishes people know and love, but we’ve also brought in plenty of new seasonal plates, new starters, new mains and a few returning favourites that have been very heavily requested.

And yes…

The Bank Top Farm Lamb Henry is back.

Petes wonderfully slow-cooked lamb served with creamy mash, roasted carrots, seasonal greens and proper minted gravy.

Then there’s our Tandoori Lamb Scotch Egg….crisp on the outside, soft New Street farm Free Range Eggs in the middle, with rocket and curry mayo. Exactly the sort of starter that was made for autumn.

We’ve also added a proper Smoked Haddock, Leek & Bacon Chowder, finished with sourdough croutons and chives….rich, smoky and ridiculously comforting.

For something a little lighter, there’s our new Wild Mushroom Crostini with garlic, thyme, olive oil, crispy sage and toasted hazelnut crumb.

And on the specials menu, one of our favourites has to be the Cod Loin served with fondant potato, pea & watercress cream sauce, chorizo and crispy samphire.

Alongside all that you’ll still find plenty of Moorcock favourites…..Pauls Traditional Steak Rag Pudding, Cheese & Onion Pie, the B**r Battered Fish & Chips, Chicken Ham & Leek Pie, Vegan Rag Pudding, burgers, steaks and plenty more.

We’ve also introduced new seasonal dishes including Gochujang & Sesame Pork Belly, Roasted Pumpkin Wedges, Venison Haunch Steak, Pork Trio, autumn salads and a proper Spiced Apple & Syrup Sponge with Calvados custard to finish.

This isn’t just a menu change.

It’s the start of a completely different season at The Moorcock.

Big flavours. Proper ingredients. Comfort food. Pub classics. A few twists. And plenty of gravy.

This is day one of the Autumn & Winter at The Moorcock. šŸ–¤

It’s not all rag puddings, cheese pies and fish & chips up the hill……

Our double burger, made with local British beef and loaded with plenty of cheese, is exactly the sort of thing these proper autumn days call for.

Big, messy, comforting and definitely not one for the faint-hearted.

We also have lighter options for those not wanting to enter a food coma!!

Come hungry, be happy & leave full!!

Seasons change, as does the menu.

Our new menu officially drops this Thursday, with a seasonal refresh just in time for the nights drawing in and the temperature starting to drop.

Think hearty, warming, home-cooked plates made with locally sourced, farm-to-plate produce, alongside all the core classics and day-to-day favourites that aren’t going anywhere.

A proper little freshen-up for the next couple of months before, dare we say it…the festive stuff starts making an appearance.

And while we’ve got you:

The main man Dyl Bud is coming through this Friday night for an evening of indie rock anthems.

New menu Thursday. Dyl Bud Friday. Not a bad way to see September out.
