What makes HomePlate different to other frozen meal suppliers?

We get asked this a lot, and sometimes the easiest way to explain it is simply to show you.

These are the ingredients from our Turkey Roast Dinner compared with another frozen turkey dinner.

At HomePlate, we cook whole turkeys ourselves. We use fresh vegetables and simple, everyday ingredients — the sort of things you'd expect to find in your own kitchen.

We don't use formed turkey, and we don't add preservatives or additives to make our meals last longer. We cook them, portion them and freeze them.

The other ingredient list speaks for itself: 17% formed turkey alongside stabilisers, modified starch, dextrose, preservatives and a long list of other ingredients.

For us, frozen food doesn't have to mean highly processed food.

It's proper home-cooked food that just happens to be frozen.

September in Leamington...

The kids are back at school, the students are back in town and we're all pretending we're not thinking about putting the heating on yet.

It’s not always about the food… although when you taste ours, you’ll know it’s definitely up there!

At HomePlate, of course we’re proud of the food. Proper homemade meals, cooked locally, with good portions and delivered straight to your door.

But sometimes a HomePlate visit turns into something completely different.

One of my recent deliveries ended up with me becoming a slightly questionable TV repair woman! A customer couldn’t get their television working properly and, with a bit of patience and the help of some very basic online guides, we managed to get it sorted.

That’s the bit of HomePlate you don’t necessarily see on a menu.

For customers who want it, we’re not just dropping a bag of meals at the door and rushing off. We’ll have a chat, check everything is OK and, occasionally, apparently fix the TV!

So yes, the food is a huge part of what we do – tasty, homemade meals that make life that little bit easier.

But we also think the person answering the door matters too!!

Apparently we’re heading into our 5th heatwave of the year and there’s a solar eclipse on Wednesday.

So basically it’s going to be ridiculously hot and then someone’s turning the lights off.

Don’t be left in the dark wondering what to have for dinner.

Apparently we've finally got some rain on the way.

I do love the sunshine, but after weeks of dry weather I think the gardens are crying out for it. Mind you, I'll believe it when I actually see it!

One thing you don't have to worry about, whatever the weather, is standing in the kitchen wondering what to cook.

Well... football isn't coming home after all. 💔⚽

I was so convinced England were going to make the final that I'd already arranged with one of my lovely HomePlate clients we'd have a little dance together in the reception area of his building if they won.

That's one of the reasons HomePlate means so much to us. It's never just about delivering homemade meals. It's about stopping for a chat, sharing a laugh, checking someone is okay and knowing that, for some people, that friendly face at the door can mean just as much as the meal itself.

Whilst Lisa was busy cooking today, I bravely stepped in to help with the most important part of the process...

Cake testing.

It's a responsibility I don't take lightly.

After extensive research, careful consideration and several mouthfuls of evidence, I can confirm that today's cake has passed all HomePlate quality standards and is officially approved for our customers.

Meanwhile, Lisa was busy preparing a batch of homemade chicken meatballs, proving that whilst I focus on quality control, she does all the actual hard work!
