👣Happy World Car Free Day!🚴‍♂️

We know it's not possible to give up all journeys made by car - but with 50% of all car journeys in the UK being under 5 miles - there is good evidence to show, that even if we could replace one of these journeys a week, communities reap benefits of better health and cleaner air! AND - it's more affordable and fun!

Get involved in the 5 Miles With Smiles challenge running up to 1 November culminating at the Kendal Mountain Festival- send us your most fun journey in, to or around Cumbria to be in with a chance to win some great prizes!

Don't forget - while you're having your bike fixed, you can pop along to our neighbours in the hall, and visit the community cafe and larder!
Awesome menus every week created from surplus food that would otherwise end up being thrown away! :)

Everyone's welcome to our Kendal People's Café and Community Food Larder today (Tuesday) from 12pm-1:30pm.

Pop in for a meal and fill a basket from a range of surplus groceries (suggested donation £5 per basket, cash and card accepted).

We're a pay-as-you-can community project repurposing surplus food and making a difference.

We're thrilled to support 5 Miles With Smiles, a community challenge that celebrates the most creative, fun-filled journeys to and around our stunning county of Cumbria.

Whether you're cycling, scooting, paddling, or wheeling, the goal is to spread joy and smiles along the way! 😊

Our team member Jo shares her fave weekend route, a scenic cycle from Kendal to Bowness, Windermere Ferry, and back, with a refreshing coffee stop and lake dip in between. ☕️
Tired legs meant hopping on a train back to Kendal - a grand day out which included 6 modes of transport!! (cycling, walking, swimming, ferry, Dragon boat and train)

Another bike for sale at the Eddington Kendal CIC! The Trek Navigator 200 is an attractive, user-friendly bike, great for zipping around town and carrying stuff (rack included). It has V brakes and 24 gears (touring gear setup) with gripshift gear changing. Low top tube for easier step-through, and there's a kickstand too. Medium-size frame (to be confirmed!).

This pre-loved, affordable bike has been worked on by our amazing volunteers, and signed off as safe by our lead mechanic.

We have about 8 bikes ready for sale at the moment, priced from £50 to £300 - why not pop in sometime to view them! The workshop is open from 12 noon until 3.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. 106 Highgate, LA9 4HE - feel free to message us for directions if you've not been before 😃🚲✨

Four new bikes ready for sale today, spruced up and ride-ready, thanks to our ace mechanics at the Cyclery, Eddington Kendal CIC!

1. Dawes Discovery 301, £40 (dark green)
2. Dawes Sterling, £50 (navy blue)
3. Birons folding bike, £30 (silver, tiny wheels)
4. Ridgeback Comet, £40 (silver, standard wheels!)

Pop in sometime to have a look at these plus our other bikes, or feel free to message for more info!

The Cyclery workshop is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon to 3.30pm, and located at 106 Highgate, LA9 4HE.

To find us, aim for Milne Moser estate agency on Highgate, then go through the archway on the left of it, straight ahead up the steps to the church, then round the right-hand side of the church building, and the Cyclery is the door with a honking horn hanging on a bike chain 😊
