Thank you to everyone who came to Lion’s funeral yesterday your love and support meant the world.

Just to clear up any confusion: M&P Kitchen / Caribbean Cuisine has absolutely no connection to Lion or his family. We’ve had a lot of questions yesterday and people wondering why the shop was still open yesterday even whilst Lion’s funeral took place, so we wanted to set the record straight.

Lion’s Kitchen will always carry his name, his heart, and is Lion’s legacy. He poured his soul into that kitchen it was his pride, his joy, and his dream. Nothing and no one can ever take away the love, loyalty, and memories he built there. His name and his legacy of Lion’s Kitchen will live on through our hearts🙏🏽💛🦁

Hello All,

It is with great sadness that the family share the news that Nehemiah McDonald, known to many of you as Lion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 31st August 2025.

Lion was more than a dedicated chef. He was a caring, passionate father, grandad, and friend to many. Through his cooking, his humour, and his big heart, he brought joy to everyone around him. Whether in the kitchen or in the community, he made people feel welcome and always left them with a smile.

His legacy will live on through the love he showed his family and the lives he touched. We will remember him not only for his incredible food, but also for the warmth, laughter, and kindness he shared so generously.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. Further details will be shared in the coming days ❤️
