A little update from me ❤️
I’ve made the decision that, going forward, I won’t be taking on any new orders for occasion cakes.
This is something I’ve thought about for a long time because, honestly, I absolutely love making them. 🎂❤️
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of making cakes for so many birthdays, weddings, baby showers, christenings and so many other special occasions. It’s been such a journey, and I’m incredibly grateful to every single person who has trusted me to make something for their special day.
But behind the scenes, occasion cakes take a lot of time.
With Peony getting busier, the days getting longer and sometimes working 14-hour days, I’ve found myself spending my evenings continuing to work on cakes. As much as I love it, I’m tired — and I’ve reached a point where I want to be at home more.
Our Home Life is busy too. We’re moving house, Freya is getting older, and I want to be able to enjoy this stage of life rather than constantly feeling like I’m working.
There’s also the cost involved. I’ve always struggled to charge what I should for my cakes because I hate charging people what they actually need to cost. Ingredients have gone through the roof over the last few years and I’ve often ended up spending far more time and money on them than I’ve charged, and that simply isn’t sustainable anymore.
And ultimately, Peony is getting so busy that there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do both. ❤️
So, for now, I’m going to concentrate on Peony, our cakes, bakes, food and everything that happens in the shop — and most importantly, having a little more time for home and family.
If you already have an occasion cake booked with me, don’t worry — every cake that is already booked in will absolutely be made. ❤️
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me, ordered from me and allowed me to be part of so many special moments over the years. It really does mean more than you know.
Thank you for understanding and for always supporting me and Peony. ❤️
