Happy Saturday Darlings!

After the crazy hot summer and lots of weddings normality has resumed and my buttercream is cooperating once again.

Sunflowers are everywhere at the moment so it was lovely to be asked to make this special 90 number box for a very special birthday.

Mixed here with some bright roses they make a stunning combination.

💕🌸Beautiful wedding 🌸💕

First and foremost huge congratulations to my lovely couple A and S.

Tied the knot yesterday at Barns at Redcoats on one of the hottest days on record.

I caught a glimpse of the bride and you looked stunning.

When you book your summer wedding you hope for fine weather but my goodness no one orders a heatwave.

I absolutely loved the pretty Summer pastels with a few vibrant pops chosen here.
The whole vibe was fun and relaxed.

Every interaction with this gorgeous couple was calm and I thank you both for choosing me to create your cakes for the big day. 💕

Now this is a tale of two halves.

Working with buttercream in this heat was obviously challenging and I won’t lie I was not always cool calm and collected.
Real tears were shed.

Butter melts.

At some points it felt like mission impossible…..

But I took a deep breath…several Infact and had to change things up.
5am and midnight 🌛piping sessions to try and beat the heat.
Flowers had to be switched up a little, placement had to be changed a little.
Cake structure had to be changed a little.

Delivery and set up had to be changed to the evening minutes before scheduled cutting of the cake.

But I did it!

Thanks to my family for putting up with a very stressed me.
The team at Redcoats who are always so friendly,fabulous and flexible.
My fellow bakers who I reached out to for support..you know who you are.

Not easy working with buttercream in this weather. 🥵

Early mornings and late nights to get the petals to set.

Keep cool everyone and most importantly keep your buttercream cakes cooler.

Tiny petals and delicate wild flowers amongst trailing vines all sprinkled with sparkling fairy dust.

Hello Darlings

The sun is shining and spring is definitely in the air today.

Daffodils and blossom are starting to appear and it’s so good to feel the sunshine streaming through the windows.

This little stunner left for a 50th birthday party at the weekend.

Pretty Roses, Peonies and Cherry blossom form the Halo on this cake.
All hand piped by me, each petal, leaf and stem.

Delicious melt in the mouth buttercream.

Sitting proud on a fondant covered board hand stamped with letters painted in gold.

So much time and love goes in to these creations.
The process takes days….its never going to make me rich but I get so much joy from handing them over and seeing peoples smiles.

So much thought had gone in to the choice of flowers and colours to create something even more unique and personal.
