Part 1 - kitchen roll holder. Shaping the spindle with a little bit of friction burning for the handle.

Using a length of maple branch I harvested from the garden.

Always a scary part this...if i don't get the pressure correct then all of the logo doesn't get burnt in and it looks daft. Also the type of wood makes a difference to the time held. Spalted beech didn't need long, only a few seconds in place.

Third stage on this fabulous piece of spalted beech. Turning away the tenon and giving it a sand ready for the branding.

A lovely piece of spalted beech, turned originally in 2024 after being reclaimed due to storm damage. Now getting it's final outing on the lathe.

A part turned bud vase getting a second go in the lathe to finish it off.

I always find the spade bits a little wild, I am sure the must be a better choice. I was thinking about an auger? Anyone got any experience with these. The hole is 110mm deep. Or do I need a forstner with an extension?

Part 2 - Junior Gentleman Fountain pen from Strongink Penkits.

Kindly sent to my by the lovely folks across the pond at this fountain pen was a pleasure to turn and construct. The quality of the kit is fantastic and has produced a really well balanced pen that feels good in the hand. The instructions, on their website, were clear and easy to follow.
