Our Philosophy and objectives are: -

1. To create a vibrant family friendly pub serving excellent traditional pub food and Harveys beers with guest beers alongside;
2. To include on the menu, Withyham Estate produce and exceptional food from other local suppliers;
3. To encourage use of the pub by local groups such as the cricket club, art group and horticultural society;
4. To create a greater c

onnection and focal point for the immediate community. On our menu you will already find pheasant and venison from the estate. Sausages made in Sussex to Lord De La Warr’s own recipe, ice cream from local producer Taywells and cheese from Mark and Sarah Hardy at High Weald Dairy, Horsted Keynes. We now serve our own beef from the estate's heard of Sussex Reds and are looking forward to featuring our lamb and pork as Buckhurst Farm and the pub work together to supply the finest local produce.

After a day of “good, gentle walking” through the Weald, we were delighted to welcome Jim Bannister & Tara to stay at The Old School Cottage at The Dorset Arms.

Work is underway..

After the kitchen fire, we’re so pleased to finally say that restoration work has officially started at The Dorset Arms 🙌.

The first phase is all about making the site safe. Specialist contractors are carefully removing fire-damaged materials, clearing the kitchen and Garden Room, dismantling the damaged roof, and ensuring everything is professionally disposed of before the next stage can begin.

It’s a significant milestone, and while there’s still a long road ahead, seeing work going on means that we are on our way back!

Our team is continuing to work hard behind the scenes, coordinating every stage of the restoration and ensuring everything is in place as we move forward with the rebuild.

Thank you again to everyone who has continued to support us with your kind messages and encouragement.

While the sunshine is being kind to us, we’ve been busy making the most of it at The Old School Cottage.

We’ve had a good tidy-up, done a bit of planting & pruning and given lots of care to the Cottage gardens keeping everything looking its best for our B&B guests.

We’re keeping everything looking lovely so our guests can relax and enjoy their stay.

We are busy working together behind the scenes - our team, contractors & suppliers are all working hard and pulling together to help towards completing the first phase of rebuilding after the fire.

There’s still a long road ahead, but we are concentrating on the clean-up, repairs and planning all of which is getting us one step closer to where we need to be.

🚨CLASSIC CAR NIGHT POSTPONED 🚨

Due to the recent fire at The Dorset Arms, unfortunately we have had to take the decision to postpone our Classic Car Night which was due to take place on Thursday 21st May.

We were so looking forward to welcoming everyone and we are incredibly grateful for all the support, kind messages and enthusiasm surrounding the event.

The good news is that this is only a postponement and not a cancellation - we fully intend to bring the event back, so keep an eye out as we will be sharing a new date as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding whilst we navigate the next few weeks, and thank you again to everyone for all your messages that of support.

We would like to thank you so much for all the kind messages, support and offers of help we have had since the fire.

While this has been an incredibly difficult setback for us all, we feel very lucky that everyone is safe and even more grateful to be part of such a kind and supportive community locally and on-line.

We are very grateful for your patience, encouragement and loyalty and we are incredibly touched by how many of you have been in contact - reading your messages and happy Dorset Arms memories have kept the team feeling positive while we navigate all the processes and procedures we are currently undertaking.

We will keep sharing updates as we move forward, working towards getting the pub back on its feet.

Thanks to the prompt attendance of the Fire Brigades of Crowborough, Tunbridge Wells, Edenbridge, Wadhurst, Forest Row and the staff of the pub, the fire at the Dorset Arms last night has been controlled and is now out. The pub is obviously closed for the time being and we apologise to all those who have made bookings or were planning on dropping in to the pub.
Earl and Countess De La Warr are very grateful for the help and sympathy from the community and we will keep everyone updated.

***CLASSIC CAR NIGHT IS BACK - SAVE THE DATE ***

Please come and join us on Thursday 21st May at The Dorset Arms for our ‘Classic Car Meet & Barbecue’. Attendees are welcome to bring their own classic or vintage cars or just come along to admire them!

There will be a BBQ in the garden and tickets for this can be purchased from the bar on the evening.

We are looking forward to seeing you all but to give us an idea of numbers if you are hoping to come please give the post a like ❤️ and share with any car fans you know !
